Andrew Gold once told me that if I ever wanted to write a really catchy song, I should use the term “whoa” as often as possible. He used it more often than one can count in his hit song “Lonely Boy” (whoa-whoa-whoa oh what a lonely boy, whoa what a lonely boy…) and it was the hook line in the chorus of his big European hit “Bridge To Your Heart”.

Well, I thought I’d give it a try and see what the AI tools would do with it. The results are absolutely fascinating. Man, this is so dangerously catchy …
The song is called Party Time. First, I did an EDM version but my daughter said it would sound better as a country song. I have to admit that she was right. Here’s the country-rock version of Party Time with meta-tags.

PARTY TIME
https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14830865

[Intro]

[Verse]
When the stars above collide
And it’s too late to run and hide
Prepare for a rocky ride
Somehow, we’ll survive

[Verse]
I know it sounds quite bizarre
To try to catch a falling star
I want you just the way you are
No goodbyes, no au revoir

[Chorus]
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Ready, set, go – party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
All the time it’s party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time

[Verse]
I wanna keep this dream alive
What I believe in won’t subside
My love for you will be my guide
Every time it gets dark outside

[Chorus]
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Ready, set, go – party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
All the time it’s party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time

[Bridge]
When the stars start to realign
And we both cross the border line
Our lives again will be divine
Every day will be party time – party time – party time

[Interlude]

[Chorus]
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Ready, set, go – party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
All the time it’s party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time

[Chorus]
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Ready, set, go – party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
All the time it’s party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa
Party time, party time
Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa

[Outro]

Hey Rob.....this is really good. I didn't expect such a "perfect" radio write and production.
Awesome!
Good luck with this.
Do you have any luck with getting these songs of yours in the public eye / ears?
Good stuff, man!

Always good Rob.
Whether humans or bots, your stuff always sounds thoughtful and put together.
The last one you did with AI sounded authentic country and radio ready.
This does to.

Rob, as always Marty is untrustworthy.

He thinks people didn't notice when he plastered his negative take on what your doing here.

So there is no reason to believe he's genuine.

He thinks they are robots, and thinks his own songs are superior.

Ignore him, this is not my style but sounds good

Hi Tom,
thanks for listening and for your feedback. You have to know that I used AI-based tools to create this recording.

Over the years I didn't reach the big breakthrough I was hoping for. A couple of songs were played on radio stations around the world and I won a couple of contests, but all in all I'd say I wasn't successful. Now, writing song is more like a hobby.

Marty,
thanks for the honest feedback. You put a big smile on my face. I know you're not a fan of this AI stuff. For a while, my mindset was exactly the same. Currently my studio equipment is packed in boxes and I can't record my own music. That's why I'm experimenting with AI. I wish these robots didn't sound that good.

All the best - Robert

Hi Fdem,
Marty's feedback was useful, honest and actually, very positive.

Your post didn't contain much feedback about my song but thanks anyway

No it wasn't, he clearly thinks your work is lesser than his because you are using Ai.

He was either lying to me, or he's lying to you.

Either way he's a pathological liar and un trustworthy.

What feedback did he give you?

If I gave feedback on this I'd be attacked. Somebody would come in after, saying why my view is wrong

I'm trying to avoid that, it does sound good .

Glad you are keeping doing this regardless of what Marty really thinks

I said nothing about you here.
If you had said nothing about me and just addressed Rob's song, there would be no attacks at all.

I like the song.
I like all of Rob's songs. AI included.
I greatly like one of CK's song that was AI.

There is no need for personal insults here.
There is no need to make Rob dislike me.

Keep it on the song.

Such a liar. So all my 100 songs sucked, not a single kind thing to say about them, years of working on craft, an enjoyable time fir me, ruined by you.

Yet "everything Rob does is well thought out "

You've gotten so full of [naughty word removed] you don't even know where your beaver head is.

You lied to somebody here, I'd say it's prudent to just assume you are a liar and untrustworthy, than to try to figure which is the truth

If people dont like my songs, I may can question their criteria for the judgement...but I can't make them like my songs by insulting them.
That's just going to make them like my songs less.

Let Rob have his song thread back.

Well, let that be the final word.
It's lunchtime in Houston. I have a bat in a cage down on the kitchen counter. I have to go bite it's head off and then chow down on the remains. My favorite meal.

Back to the song

All loves gonna grow whoa, whoa.

When writing lyrics search for easy vowels to chew into...lol.

This is good Rob! You should dig out your recording equipment too. sometime.

Hey Elvis,
thank you! I definitely will use whoa or woah in some of my next songs. I wish I could thank Andrew for that great piece of advice.

Rob it seems iron knee also lies based on who is posting the song.

Much different response...

AI can help all those with limited skills and talent.... but surely, we should give credit where credit is due.

Reading the above posts, I am left with questions as to how much of this song is your work, and how much of this is AI?
A credit mention is the only honest approach,

Anyways, that said....it sounds pretty good!

Hi Bill,
I appreciate your feedback. Thanks! I will dig out my recording equipment once I move. That will take a few months.

Take care - Robert

AI can help all those with limited skills and talent.... but surely, we should give credit where credit is due.

Reading the above posts, I am left with questions as to how much of this song is your work, and how much of this is AI?
A credit mention is the only honest approach,

Anyways, that said....it sounds pretty good!

Fdem,
may I kindly ask you to stop using my threads to rant. If you want to give me feedback, please go ahead.

Tom is not a fan of AI. I'm absolutely fine with that. I wasn't either but then I gave it a try and I view AI as a useful tool when it comes to songwriting. Tom is absolutely right with the question of how much did I contribute. In SoundCloud I ALWAYS write that I did not compose the music. At the start of this thread I also wrote that I used AI tools. You don't do that when you post songs. That is exactly what Tom is criticizing and I fully agree with him. If you disagree with him, please go back to your own thread and discuss this topic there. Tom wrote that message to you, not me - on YOUR thread. It's about your song, not mine. Thanks.

Well he basically said AI is ok for people with limited talent and ability.

So he's saying you have limited talent and ability.

If it applies to me it applies to you.

And I'm not sure what kind of talent he has himself.

Meh

Fdem,
you’re acting like an idiot. Tom wrote that AI can help those with limited skills and talent. That remark is spot on. I don’t know about you but I have limited skills. I can’t play all those instruments the way that AI does and I can’t sing. In that perspective my skills are limited and I assume your skills are too. But maybe you can sing like Michael Buble or Ariana Grande. I don’t know and I don’t care. You’re ranting and spreading hatred.

I’ve been following Tom and his music for over 10 years now. He posts on various forums. He’s really talented. I love his songs. Some of them are dangerously catchy. Unlike you, he prefers to do everything himself. I’ve never heard any song you recorded all on your own. He didn’t attack anybody. He has an opinion just like you and I do. I respect his opinion.

All of this has nothing - absolutely nothing - to do with the song I posted here. Please discuss this in your own thread. Thanks.

That quote up there explains the whole thing. How it be possible for two people using ai, but one sounding like a radio hit...the other vitriole.

Collusion is the word that comes to mind.

If compliments based on falsehoods and friendship are worth something to you, so be it.

But it's the reason why some people never improve, they keep being fed bird [naughty word removed].

Why change if they are perfect.

I'm quite aware of your cronies who try to come into my threads and pretend they know nothing about anything going in.

Hey Fdem,
good question. I have no idea why some people get good results with the AI tools and others don't. It wasn't just Tom that confirmed that this song sounded pretty good. Even you did. Remember? If you're not getting good feedback on your AI songs, maybe there's a reason. Maybe they don't sound like radio hits. I really don't know because I don't listen to any of your songs anymore. You told me to go away, remember? Btw, I think Tom can confirm that we are not good friends. Every now and then he comments my songs and vice versa. If you don't want to give me feedback, please go away.

He was miffed cause I didn't say his song was great.

But I find it funny, you trying to find a reason why the contrast

It's all nepotism here nothing else. Makes for nice bed time stories, but no validity.

Thanks for trying to educate me on good music

Wrong thread. I have no idea what you are talking about.

I am actually sending you what should have been a private message but this was easier.

I wrote a long story song years ago called "Gone By Dawn"
Mike Z produced an mp3 for me.
I would like to do an AI with it and try some approaches but I've got a lot of misc tasks-at-hand to deal with in the rest of my life, and the DAW learning curve that I have been on for months has worn me down a bit. I dont feel fresh. You seem to have developed some techniques, combined with intelligence and musical sensibilities that is translating nicely in your AI song productions.

Do you have time to re-do Gone By Dawn using AI, from Lyrics?
If you don't, I understand.

Marty

Thanks.
I'll post it in the MP3 section, with lyrics, along with the production that Mike did.
As far as your interpretation, I prefer to stay out of it and let you do what you want with it.
There is no time frame. Just whenever you have time.

Marty,
I found a lyric from you called "Gone By Dawn". It's huge! Ten verses. I added metatags and reformatted it. Here's what that one sounds like: https://soundcloud.com/sunset-poet-of-texas/gone-by-dawn-ai-lyrics-by-ml
Looking forward the newer version you're going to post.

All the best - Robert

It's georgeous. I created another thread for the song. Will link this there.
As quick as this was, do have time to do a male voice?

Thanks so much.
Marty
