Yes, you always have it but, weight loss does what insulin can't.
The medical profession wrongly believe insulin replacement is the answer. It's not low insulin it's that the body doesn't use insulin right. So you could shovel in all the insulin you like it won't go where it's needed - Fde Yes weight loss and diet are important. But insulin is truly a wonder drug. My wife wouldn't have made it through her teenage years without it. She found out she had diabetes when she went into a coma, with a blood sugar of 1200. She's always been thin and watched her diet. John Insulin is not a drug... JLS, your wife's condition is a perfect example of why the general public should seriously re-examine the claim that diabetes has become an epidemic. If you CAN manage your blood sugar with diet and exercise... then you don't NEED insulin/medication. If all you have to do is diet and exercise, then your NOT diabetic.

Actually, insulin is considered a drug. "Insulins are a class of drugs used to treat type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)123".

John John, I'm not trying to diminish your wife's very serious condition. However, insulin is only considered "medication" because big pharma makes big money selling it to those who need it. Personally, I believe it's a crime. "Insulin is a naturally occurring hormone your pancreas makes that's essential for allowing your body to use sugar (glucose) for energy. If your pancreas doesn't make enough insulin or your body doesn't use insulin properly, it leads to high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). This results in diabetes."

Not quite true....once a diabetic, always a diabetic....you've got it forever...you may have it under control but it is still working on destroying organs in your body...in my case, neuropathy in my feet...I have had no problem with my blood sugar level but I feel the progression in my feet. and of course people with typ1 (no insulin made by pancreas) can't live without it one person's medication is another person's drug...IMO drug and if you need insulin to live...no crime is committed

The wife uses Novolog which is a totally man-made drug. Not that our debate on drug verses meds is important. Although..."the difference between a drug and medication is: "a drug is a substance used to treat an illness, relieve a symptom, or modify a chemical process in the body for a specific purpose. Medication refers to a substance that is used in treating disease or relieving pain, and that is usually in the form of a pill or a liquid." So, it's a drug - ha, ha. John

Back to the good news...
Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were more "farmers markets" than grocery stores and fast food drive-throughs?
Necessity may be the mother of invention... But, the rich have always profited most from the needy.
Surely there will come a day when money doesn't hinder progress.

Within a 15 minute drive from my place are about 10 farmer's markets...because my diet is mostly fruits and vegetables, I buy most of my food there...haven't been to a fast food place for 5+ years I'm doing my part...lol

Lest we forget the country we live in. Type 2 Diabetes was very rare before the fast food boom. Before everything came in boxes, before the cereal companies and pharma started promoting high sugar, low fat cereals
1960, America has gotten fatter and fatter, and diabetes has been an epidemic since the 90's.
Insulin itself is not a drug, just like cortisone, or thyroid, are not, they are naturally occurring hormones in the body. The Synthetic ones given as medicine ARE drugs. Because they are different chemicals, the body doesnt handle them as easily as natural, and in those large doses.
No doubt insulin is important to diabetics, and not all diabetics are overweight, some are very skinny. But the mass epidemic is all caused by insulin resistance, thats the bodys inability to use insulin well. insulin resistance is involved in belly fat, high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol.
Probably the hardest job the body has is keepin sugar levels balanced. Combine that with stress, no exercise, bad diet, and being overweight, knock out punches.

The ancient Roman doctor Galen mentioned diabetes but noted that he had only ever seen two people with it, which suggests that it was relatively rare in those days. By the fifth century C.E., people in India and China had worked out that there was a difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes.Apr 26, 2019

Kiss my big hairy white Christian A$$! Never underestimate the value of useful idiots... If a broken clock is right twice a day... That's still a poor excuse for belligerence. I can't make sense of that. But the gist appears to be some sort of morality based dismissal couched in lofty terms. Whatever it is, you can write it but you don't seem to comprehend it yourself.

Kiss my big hairy white Christian A$$! Never underestimate the value of useful idiots... If a broken clock is right twice a day... That's still a poor excuse for belligerence. ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM... I dream of a day when all life's questions are answered, everyone has a perfect place and purpose, wealth isn't a measure of a man's capability, and no one has any reason to lie... That last one sounds so serene, contemplative, magnanimous, thoughtful, unicorn, maharishi and so on. Now try to act like someone who said that. Martydom, KISS MY BIG HAIRY WHITE CHRISTIAN A$$!What makes you think Christians don't react the same as anyone else when provoked? Oh, right... you're agnostic.
The journey is definitely more important than the destination...

Seen lots of religious people. In my almost 72 years, I have never seen a "Christian" conflate bible thumping with the level of coarseness that you do. Not even close. You are a brand new experience. John Brown slaughtered people in Kansas in the name of God..but I doubt that he spoke in such a manner that you seem to be so proud of. You are like some kind of "Deliverance" Christian, cussing and tawkin' bout pretty mouths and all.
And yep, that is coming from an agnostic.
