Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've posted any songs. Glad to be back. Would appreciate feedback on the tune. Lyrics are below. Thanks. https://www.reverbnation.com/q/862879I got the idea for the song when I was on a business trip and getting on an airplane. I sat across from an elderly couple and said a few words to them. After the plane took off and the “fasten seat belts light” went off, the man got up to go to the restroom. As he got up, he stumbled but his wife caught him from behind and pulled him up. As he trundled off to the restroom, his wife smiled at him and continued to watch him walk. It was one of the kindest, loving acts I’d ever seen. But it also reminded me of my relationship with my wife, Jean. We continually pull each other up, showing love and care for each other. That experience has stayed with me. I hope the story resonates with you. And there may be someone in your life that you keep pulling up or someone that keeps pulling you up. Care and love are the keys to pulling loved ones up. Pulling Me Up (Mastered) Emmanuel Lawrence Copyright 2024 85 BPM VERSE 1 I met an older couple on the street today Still in love, they spoke in tender ways The man stumbled; wife caught him from behind He told me: I ain’t proud and I don’t mind CHORUS 1 She keep pulling me up And make me want to be a better man She keep on pulling me up And I won't turn away her helping hand Pulling me up Pulling me up to higher ground She won’t let nobody pull me down She keep on pulling me up Pulling me up VERSE 2 Passed a Mother and young girl in the park today The girl tripped and fell as she went to play Mother picked her up and whispered soothing words Mother said be careful but love is all she heard CHORUS 2 She keep pulling me up My Mother cares for me in every way She keep pulling me up I need her love and kindness everyday Pulling me up Pulling me up to higher ground She won’t let nobody pull me down She keep on pulling me up Pulling me up BRIDGE And love, and love, yes, love Hears our call And love binds us all Yes, love knows us, every one From morning to setting sun VERSE 3 I get home, want to see my wife and kids We stay connected and love’s our bridge At times we stumble, at times we fall But they’re my whole heart and my reward CHORUS 3 They keep on pulling me up Make me want to be a better man They keep on pulling me up And though the kids may not understand Pulling me up Pulling me up to higher ground I won’t let nobody pull them down They keep on pulling me up Pulling me up OUTRO They keep on, they keep on, they keep on Pulling me up They keep on, they keep on, they keep on Pulling me up (2x)

Lovely sentiment. Lovely sound. Lovely song. And it was lovely to hear someone singing their music...well. The recording-mix could have let the lyrics come through a little clearer. But I truly enjoyed. Thanks for putting your music up here. Marty Ps been married 35 years. Song hit home.

I can relate to your second chorus, my mom was tireless in picking us up, and especially not letting anyone pull us down.
Whereas Dad was saying, "ok how'd you f up this time," mom was believing in our innocence.
What I find unusual about this is the music is heading downward, down the scale, but the lyric is about pulling up. Not sure if any if that was realized.
I like the vocals.
Main crit is this whole theme takes place on the same day, that's a pretty large coincidence lol.
Might hurt the believability of it.
I like it though, and it's good not to just hear somebody singing, but somebody singing well...
Enjoyed

I believe you may have a latency issue while recording your VOX.
Nice song

Nice song Just had another listen and thought I'd be more specific... The latency seems more pronounced during the chorus, I'd guess 10 or 15ms behind the beat. I used to have the same issue with my old computer

I like the lyric and great sentiment. I also like your R&B voicing. Thanks for posting here at JPF. Enjoyed the listen!
