FRIENDS LIKE BERNIE MADOFF

V1

I don’t have a wealthy father

Or a Yacht parked in the Bahamas

I don’t wanna have a second home

Keep track of two of everything I own

Worry where the Stockmarket’s at

You gotta be rich to think like that

Ch

I’m just a poor troubadour

I like to fish off my front porch

Catch sunsets and striped bass

Listen to frogs and Johnny Cash

Greed and money I ain’t made of

I don’t have friends like Bernie Madoff

V2

Kids round here don’t go to the Ivy League

Or outgrow their britches when they get big

Wives shop at Walmart or Circle K

And if they can’t find it there they go on eBay

Men wear their Levis til they’re torn to smithereens

Not eight hundred dollar pee-stained jeans

Ch

Br

I got a trailer by a lake and the songs I wrote

That’s the extent of my portfolio

Ch

Gotta' be honest...
If you're going to put that much emphasis on "Bernie Madoff", then this needs a banjo wink

A banjo ? What does a crook in manhattan have to do with banjos ? Not much Tony
Bernie gets the acoustic riff on outro in that urn in his lawyers office , cuz his family hates him
But thanks

I don’t have friends like Bernie Madoff

I'm not sure if that line works

he may have been rich but his claim to fame was being a criminal...Madoff ended up dying in prison and was better known for ripping off his friends in a $65 Billion Ponzi scheme than being wealthy...unless you are meaning you don't have friends who are crooks
Now if you can work Warren Buffett into the rhyme scheme.....or Elon Musk...lol

Just some thoughts

Steve

Creators of music have a responsibility to their craft. When they have finished using all the notes and words, they must pass them down to the next generation with a simple request. “Use these to create new music.”...Steven McDonald

..excellent point, the many times I've seen this song posted never thought of that. Was never clear if he had money before that

People associate him with ponzi scheme, but good song, robots did a good Job

That's not robots , What i usually do write a melody including outro and have Nashville players cut it . Well outro was a Italian player I added later . Like the mp3 River I have a few things I do messing around with the guitar . This riff on end was some thing I had , I added it like how Layla ends the song , That old song .

Money before ? Yes he did . He was a respected trader on Wall street . Then the Ponzi Scheme happened ( or started I should say ) . Which took the watch dogs 40 years to catch him.

It's a lot of work , starting from work tape to track it , Sing it , Add BGVS from Africa singers . Bounce over to Oakland studio for Atomos mixing , something like 6 hours work on mixing. But I did steal a melody from AI for Peacefull waters . change keys , Same deal Session players to track it. no robots. Using session players is nothing new... from the Beach boys to Taylor Swift .

Elon Musk could work , But he's not a crook like Madoff was. Thats the point.. I'm singing songs in this trailer , While assholes like Madoff rob us blind. My voice Dylan meets Tom Waits drunk .

I only got one a Santa Cruz , I can't see buying 15k guitars hanging on walls . cowriter wants a few beats taken out before hook hits , Let him and BZ deal with it . I bet some of them pricey ones have great tone , like Olsens.
no biggee

Never had the pleasure on Olsens , Yeah i imagine great acoustic mikes for tone all that. Back to Bernie he was part of the system SEC, whatever them assholes are , Then it back fired Bush and them assholes on Mortgagee crisis . well moving on to 2025. November wheel chair election. Sponored by memory loss. I'm sure Wallstreet has a lot of that,

The whole trick to my Dylan meets Tom Waits drunk voice , Is soak dentures the night before in bleach so i look like Brad Pitt . Glue them in real good so they don't fly out kill the producer .
