Hi Folks,
This is just an experiment to see if folks would like to post links to their music videos for feedback. Many of you have stuff posted on sites like YouTube or perhaps have made music videos. It would be great to have a big collection of those here for everyone to see. Let's take advantage of the online multimedia revolution!
So please post away! Remember, direct linking the video is the best way to get people to check it out. (It's the same as when people post direct links to their MP3 files).
So who's going to go first?
Brian

Hi Very Cool....I'll post... this should be fun and I hope others will post and I hope Jody W posts that cool video they did not long ago Question should have I started a New Topic like a lyric or mp3 post? Or should we keep it a running thread? If it's a feedback forum I guess the New Topic title was the right idea.. I'll make one. I've been posting video links on the mp3 boards the past 2 years. People seemed to enjoy them.. Here is a quick home video. We just got a new camera then and my wife said go check it out and see if it works. I came back 5 hours later with this. I figured if I can't play live anymore making in house studio videos of some of my songs would be a cool way to share with family and friends. We did it all ourself here at home I performed all the music myself, with my wife singing backups. I see you posted a seperate post Mike. That's what I want everyone to do. But this serves as a good example of how to post. A direct link is the way to go. Thanks for kicking us off!

I would suggest anyone uploading a video try to compress it to around 4 MB. Anything any longer becomes a very long download time for anyone on less than Very High speed internet. Dialup would be a real pain.
Just a suggestion

I hope more folks will get involved. It's fun having visual stuff to look at rather than just audio and text around here.

Brian, Good timing to add this feature at JPF! I've already produced a few videos, some with you own (original) music, a collaboration and a few where I got permission to use under Creative Commons with attribution. I hope we can all learn from each other's experience and input, i.e. not just entertain each other, but have some "shop talk", tip exchanges and some networking, etc.
Thanks for the add! Michael

So what do you all think of this particular board? I'd like to get more videos linked here. I know a lot of artists have em. How can we get the word out to more to post and get involved?
Anyone want to make it their project?

Brian Hi Brian - It's a great board! just needs time and help. I'm in the middle of putting together videos that take the viewer through the varioius stages of a song, The production, The recording, The various instruments, parts, Recording techniques, mixing and much more.... I'm assembling them into mini parts say Part 1 thru Part 12 So maybe they run from 2 minutes to 8 minutes a clip. And than post say 2 parts at a time over the course of a few weeks or so. I want to post them here on this thread to share with all our friends... Only constant medical & financial troubles keep delaying and blocking me. BUT I'm not gonna let those things stop me something i have partially picked up from you by the way and your attitude and posts, thankyou. I have been reduced to my old analog camera, shooting by myself and with no converter to get analog onto the mac. I think it will be very very cool and create some more traffic.. Thanks Mike

Hi Brian: On YouTube I have a lot of musician friends that I subscribe to (meaning I subscribe to their YouTube channel). Perhaps I could inform them about JPF and this particular Video Feedback Forum. It might increase the JPF membership, while getting more videos on the Forum. I'm not quite sure how to get the current membership to notice the Forum.

Here's my first (but not the last) YouTube video. I won two awards at the JPF awards dinner in November 2006. ( Best Experimental song and Best Experimenmtal Album). I will be forever grateful to Brian and those who voted for me. Those awards meant more to me than My Grammy and my Academy Award nomination put together. They represent a total departure from the more commercial work I did in my recording, film, and T.V. years. I hope you enjoy my new creative focus. It was great fun doing it. It'll be nice to see this thread again when it actually takes off. My friends and I were having this very conversation about how videos really take your songs to the next level. You don't even need to spend huge amounts of cash, the "undone indie look" is in. It seems as though people are more interested in the visual concepts of online music vids, instead of pure film perfection. This reminds me a bit of that new Jack Black comedy movie coming out about people making home vids, although theirs has nothing to do with music...strictly just films. I forget what the actual movie is called, but I plan to go see it when it hits the cheapies.

Hi! Actually, we told Sonny about the Live Video Performance Competition late Sunday evening...hoping he could get this in on time. The cut-off was said to be the 13th, but no time of day was given. Although we handle some of Sonny's online promotions, we don't take it upon ourselves to enter him in a competition like that unless he has given us permission to do so. We have access to most of his videos, but didn't have all the pertinent stats for the submission. As it turns out, he wanted to use this one over one we suggested, so it was good that we checked with him first. However, Brian cut off the entries EARLY yesterday morning, and we had no indication that he was going to do that (it says: June 1st - July 13th). We assumed that submissions would be allowed until midnight on the 13th, and they weren't. Since Sonny has a very hectic gig schedule, and also teaches at his own music school during the day, he wasn't able to submit until last night...right before he left for his gig. Of course, the board was closed by then, so he submitted to this thread...which doesn't get his entry submitted. I'm going to contact Brian about it, but any nudges from your part would be appreciated...as far as allowing the entry. FYI: WE ALL know Bob Cushing (He and Sonny are good friends, by the way.)...he's a hard one to miss on the Cincy Music scene. We'll let him know you said "Hey". He also participates in our organization on MySpace Music, and we have one of his videos posted in the "CincyIndies MySpace Friends Videos" playlist on our page, and on our YouTube channel. P.J. Great song...it's easy to understand why it won 1st place. Having gospel roots myself, I always enjoy a "heads-up" on a great new contemporary gospel song. And it's always a good choice to create a good video montage for your song, if you don't have live performance video to offer. You may enjoy the original work of one of the Cincy area gospel groups, Lest We Boast -- from Hamilton, Ohio. They too created a video montage for their song "Right Where I Need You To Be", which I absolutely love... Right Where I Need you To Be ~ Lest We Boast ...I hope you enjoy it, too! P.J. Robinson

You're awesome, Bob.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Hi Folks,
Please post your videos on their own topics so that people will see them and respond. Don't post your video links here.

Hi Brian, I have a music video of my song "A price to pay" on you tube that I would like to post, I find it easier to just type in Wendell Radke to find the video (a picture of an old style alarm clock) but here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?V=3ffNeEycVss

Here's my Submission to engage art.org that had to be submitted before the end of the month. It was produced in my home studio and then sent to New York city for additional guitars and Effects, EQ and mastering et cetera. The song was written in 1994 and coincides with the theme of the contest. The video was shot here locally with an ultra low budget film, theater company that I have worked with for many years. I hired a professional singer / actor to sing and perform in the video and I think it turned out quite well , what do you think? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SvDUY-Aq6UA&feature=youtu.beKevin

I enjoyed it, Kevin. I particularly like right at the end when the synths and brass sounds came in (if that's what they were). It seemed to lift it to another level. To me the vocals sounded a little bit thin and lacking presence. Could be just a case of bringing them a little forward in the mix or adding a little more reverb. Or it could just be me Also, at 5 minutes, it's a little long. Nice work!
