Spotify rips off everyone , I closed my account with them. if someone is getting 50 K listens , He's paying ads , He might ROI , I have my doubts . Million views to make 6 cents , something stupid like that . You also have to use (Spotify paid ads) If you use outside companies , they will ban you .

That's been obvious since it started, but you know just as social media makes everybody the star, Spotify and the like make people feel like they are in the game.
What it really is is a promotional tool. You give away your music for free, and hope enough people like you to actually get an audience. Then you sell tickets to live shows
That's still the only way to make money live appearances
it's much easier to become famous today, than it is to make money.
But it makes the artist feel legit to be in there, and seems legit to listeners if they are in there
What listeners ? with over (60,000 tracks) loaded a day , You need promotion to be found in that vast pool . They will treat you like a child with out-side promotion, if you don't use Spotify ads. The song will be taken down, and a childish lecture from Spotify with a fine. it's like the music industry is herding sheep , one by one they jump off a cliff . I guess the last words would be "We were on Spotify "

This appears true enough to me. Spotify pays about 1/3 penny per play (I think). It is going to take lots of play to add up to money.
But Spotify won the race to own the allegiance of listeners at large. If I recall correctly JayZee and Beyonce put together an artist group who tried to take control from Spotify on behalf of artists...and that failed. The listeners like what they get from Spotify and they like what they pay for it. The listeners in the world have largely decided that music should be free to them. And in the listener's mind Spotify is where the music is. (legitimacy) They appear obliviously unconcerned that songwriters have been written out of the business,
So it appears to me... Big acts make little or nothing on their songwriting and give away their videos to Youtube for free (they're gonna be hijacked anyway)... in order to sell concert tickets, ball caps, tee shirts and water bottles.
Iof course Spotify rips off artists, they even rip off legends of music, and favor the current hits
But it does offer some credibility to unknowns. To be on the same platform as massive stars the listener accepts you as an artist.
The only problem is they'll never know most of us are there, that's where money comes in
But it's basic, be on Spotify
I don't see udio or ai as a threat right now, there's a life force that's missing, even if you write your own lyrics, which helps humanize it.
But it seems to me, right now ai music is its own genre, it's not Rock n roll or blues etc, it's a simulation of it.
I can liken it to electronic music, it's just its own thing.
I look at the editors picks , some of the songs are so obviously computer generated, every bit of it, and the mutha fackers have like 500 k listens and 140 k ikes
It's all people who understand what it is. It's not them going out and buying that and listening in their car.
I haven't heard an ai song yet that was great
My own is just a reference, I couldn't put it up on Spotify, too much to explain for one thung

The number of "artists" on Spotify is galactic. Just the number of DIY'ers from home such as me, that come on to it through Distrokid is probably galactic. If someone is on Spotify (with big acts) and they are not out promoting their music to a fan base...they are not only likely invisible, but as a practical matter, dont exist at all.
As much as I enjoy writing songs and working them up on my DAW...that describes me. So I am here sitting in the back of the upper bleachers offering my two-cents on "the game" to those that I find around me. C'est la vie.
There are undoubtedly some youtube, Soundcloud and FB discoveries that make a case against that...but I suspect that those are 1 in a billion.
You might as well do open mikes or small shows and get more followers that way then Rip -Off Spotify . Sell cds and actually talk to a human being then pictures on the net . I have no idea what influx AI songs will do on Spotify , if you can play guitar and sing in key, a bar is fine . the stats are old and redundant. 70 % pay to be on the music world , 30% are making money, which are (Majors).
We already had a visitor to our site announcing his music in Spotify, they didn't mention it was ai , which is a mistake, but I'm sure there's millions on there already....but regardless if it's ai, or somebody playing a cello, Two things have to happen, its gotta get exposure and it's gotta be liked.
chances are an ai generated song, a complete automated one, is not going to compel anybody
First off, You gotta be able to make a viscerally pleasing and/or captivating sound. If you cant do that no one is going to listen to long-winded lyrics about the cat that never came home.
Also, 99 percent of the time you need to be young. And it helps to be pretty and a former Mickey Mouser.
Every once in a while, these people like Lana Del Rey, Avril Lavine, Billie Eilish and mk.Gee ring the bell with mystique and aingst. (Lana Del Rey throws in a name that sounds like a 50's movie star)
Some kind of "it" has to occur. (e.g. Morgan Wallen. Looks like a guy who might work counter at an auto parts store. Sings well, but there is nothing tonally that really sets him apart. I think that "Last Night" is the biggest single in Country music history. Other than his southern accent, nothing even makes it a country song)
But without a good sound that gets someone in the game, it's going to be hard to even roll the dice on a long odds.
He sounds like Peter Cetera and the music sounds like Michael MacDonald wrote it in the 80's. He even generates his guitar sound using an old TASCAM tape deck. I can't even make out the lyrics.
But he's got the aingst mystique workin, the sloppy clothes, and somehow the "it" factor. If you're 14 years old, it's all new.

.he does sound like cetera vocally, but it's hi guitar playing is why he's getting a million views
But when i said world beater, I was talking about the sound, not the artistry. And I wasn't talking about him
This is what you do, I don't know if you even realize you do it. You make a comment on it needing to sound pleasantly aesthetic or nobody will care about it .. ok point taken.
I piggy back on that and say u need to sound like a world beater, or nobody will care, at least the record listening audience, then you come back about McKee not being great to you, simply because I mentioned him.
That's you in a nutshell, your ideas are correct and nobody else's are, you become antagonistic.
But Eric Clapton who is probably a better guitarist than you disagrees with you 100%
Well guys, after reading so many interesting comments under this topic I have to say that I lately started using Suno AI and I am okay with it, it bring you songs to life (I will always mention "music by Suno AI")
I'll say AI is here to stay like it or not and we all we will have to use it in years from now so, I got started and I am happy.
My Spotify listeners are going up, my streams are increasing too.

Lol no worries Irwin, what matters is if anyone will dig it. I don't think u need to say ai vocals, lots of people have people sing their songs .
But if u do mention it people will automatically knock your work down

I was having a discussion. Nothing more. I said that mk.kee was not great to me because he is not great to me. Take a trip to Nashville and listen to some top pickers and you will also realize that mc.kee is not a great guitarist either. But he has a sound and he has found a piece of "it" and he is making it work for him. Glad for him. Wish it had been me, but it wasn't.
This is what you do. Someone says something that you see as contradicting you, and your narcissism kicks in and your emotions fire up. And then you go into neurotic fixation mode, start following them around the site and start firing off insults. Then it goes deeper into neurotic fixation mode and you begin dissecting your version of...what I think and do.
Like I said, I was having a discussion and offered an opinion. My opinions are fairly sound and reasonable and realistic or I dont state them. I am definitely not going to start soul searching as a result of what you think that I should do. You are not a psychological role model. You are largely a lucid example of how not to be.
My suggestion...say what you have to say and don't fix on what you think is wrong about what I say. I am not going to change how I think or tip-toe around you.
PS I have a 1972 original owner sunburst Strat. I bought it because Eric Clapton played one. But Eric has also been a heroin addict so he's not a gold standard for me in any regard. And that may be narcissism too. He may hear some of himself or be doing a friend a favor with the endorsement.

OR, it's a narcissistic view, that somebody who disagrees with you, MUST, be up to something, he can't possibly think mkgee is good, because YOU don't.
Never mind the fact the person who disagrees is Eric Clapton, and how you belittle his opinion to support your own.
The issue is that you have created another argument because of what you have decided about something that I wrote...about a singer-songwriter. Now you want to go round and round. You are a ghoul Dom.

No rabbit hole for me.
If you dont like my opinion, then you don't.
Right you've been busted again. This is who you are, but you somehow managed to make people think I'm the villain.
Your word is gold, thats the source of every argument we've ever had.
I use to be on streaming services but got off. I found it too hard getting the little money that I earned. They wanted me to jump through hoops to get it. I don't feel comfortable giving my SIN number to second and third parties to get it. If we'd stop feeding the beast, it would die. The only ones that make any real money are big name artist because they have negotiated better deals than the small artist.
Yeah I didn't like them either , So deleted all of them . I sell cd's and use FB and Youtube for ads . I see no point looking at invisible people on Spotify . I did hear a billion artists , that were real good . but it takes money to get above the noise . Like Joe Kennedy and JP Morgan manipulated the stock market , unless your in the rich -mens club . You're going to lose.
Dear Mr. Nash,
Fantastic news! Your song "Heart Mend" has been a huge hit with our listeners at Hot97. We've been getting a ton of requests for your music, and we've been happy to share your Facebook handles with those interested fans.
It's been exciting to see your song connect with our audience and watch your listener base grow on our airwaves. We're proud to have you as part of the Hot97 family! Is there anything we can do to further support your music or connect you with your newfound fans? We'd be happy to explore some options.
Congratulations again on your success
Hard to say if numbers will add up on radio play. But beats paying Spotify

The big names make everybody who gets a pay check from Spotify bigger. The reasoning on their end is sound.... Not for everyone else
Yeah I didn't like them either , So deleted all of them .
I would have suggested against that.
You are invisible in the universe of recordings that is Spotify...but if you are out playing and someone does not want your CD but asked about your music, then you can direct them to Spotify and it does provide easy access and gives some bit of legitimacy in most people's minds.
And...if you get 2000 spins, you can take that payout and buy a beer in some places. Not all, some.
I have a temper , they pissed me off , Probably should left the account active . I got to many . "Do you promise to not use outside services to promote your songs ? Good boy ". you know [naughty word removed] you Spotify
I know why... they want you to use Spotify ads. Out-side services run up numbers , So they would have to pay you . The little quiz you have to take is like a parent talking to a naughty boy . With a pat on the head , good boy

In a world today where anybody can produce music and distribute it, your protest won't matter one iota. You might as well be on there
It would take every major artist to drop Spotify, that won't happen. There's no downside to you being on there
You got it buddy, remember me when your rich and famous.
I will remember you for I am on my way to making some really cool songs with Suno AI. Thank you.
I listened to the samples, pretty cool but is it ten versions of the same song?
Yes! they all sounded so good to me I had to put them all up has an album. Having you listen to my song (s) on Spotify I respectfully thank you for that.

I was on your Spotify page this morning. I'm impressed with your 98 followers and 240 monthly listeners. Most people have none
Your music has improved a great deal, i remember your older posts here, they barely sounded like songs.
It's not my genre but I understand what it is and where it needs to be.
But it's proof that working on your craft gets results.

And trust me I have much more coming I will release.
I also think that Suno if of a great help to lyricist big time.
