The Youngest American Soldier in WWII Calvin L. Graham was the youngest U.S. military member during WWII, and is still the youngest recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. It wasn’t unusual for boys to lie about their age to enlist, but Graham was just 12 years old when he forged his mother’s signature and headed to Houston to enlist. The 125-pound, 5-foot-2 boy was miraculously cleared for naval service and assigned to the USS South Dakota as an anti-aircraft gunner.

There's no such thing as "extremism". There is only law abiding God fearing Constitutional citizenry... and everyone else.
Extremism in the name of freedom is no vice. Law that does not apply universally is just tyranny.
What I find interesting is most people tend to agree on a moral level; The definitions of right and wrong are universally accepted. However, people drastically differ where law enforcement and criminal consequences are concerned. Some people like a nice wide and convoluted grey area to justify their excuses. Others prefer absolute individual and lawful accountability to keep everyone in line.
Then there's all the dimwits in the grey who can't do 6th grade math...
It occurs to me that socialism caters to the lowest common denominator of society... Then, expects everyone but the "ruling class" to live by that diminished standard; Unless, of course, the ruling class can also use that standard as their excuse for impropriety...
This term in its particular application means "that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual."
In its larger and juster meaning, it embraces every thing to which a man may attach a value and have a right; and which leaves to every one else the like advantage.
In the former sense, a man's land, or merchandize, or money is called his property.
In the latter sense, a man has a property in his opinions and the free communication of them.
He has a property of peculiar value in his religious opinions, and in the profession and practice dictated by them.
He has a property very dear to him in the safety and liberty of his person.
He has an equal property in the free use of his faculties and free choice of the objects on which to employ them.
In a word, as a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights.
Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions.
Where there is an excess of liberty, the effect is the same, tho' from an opposite cause.
Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.
According to this standard of merit, the praise of affording a just securing to property, should be sparingly bestowed on a government which, however scrupulously guarding the possessions of individuals, does not protect them in the enjoyment and communication of their opinions, in which they have an equal, and in the estimation of some, a more valuable property.
More sparingly should this praise be allowed to a government, where a man's religious rights are violated by penalties, or fettered by tests, or taxed by a hierarchy. Conscience is the most sacred of all property; other property depending in part on positive law, the exercise of that, being a natural and unalienable right. To guard a man's house as his castle, to pay public and enforce private debts with the most exact faith, can give no title to invade a man's conscience which is more sacred than his castle, or to withhold from it that debt of protection, for which the public faith is pledged, by the very nature and original conditions of the social pact.
That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest. A magistrate issuing his warrants to a press gang, would be in his proper functions in Turkey or Indostan, under appellations proverbial of the most compleat despotism.
That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where arbitrary restrictions, exemptions, and monopolies deny to part of its citizens that free use of their faculties, and free choice of their occupations, which not only constitute their property in the general sense of the word; but are the means of acquiring property strictly so called. What must be the spirit of legislation where a manufacturer of linen cloth is forbidden to bury his own child in a linen shroud, in order to favour his neighbour who manufactures woolen cloth; where the manufacturer and wearer of woolen cloth are again forbidden the oeconomical [Volume 1, Page 599] use of buttons of that material, in favor of the manufacturer of buttons of other materials!
A just security to property is not afforded by that government, under which unequal taxes oppress one species of property and reward another species: where arbitrary taxes invade the domestic sanctuaries of the rich, and excessive taxes grind the faces of the poor; where the keenness and competitions of want are deemed an insufficient spur to labor, and taxes are again applied, by an unfeeling policy, as another spur; in violation of that sacred property, which Heaven, in decreeing man to earn his bread by the sweat of his brow, kindly reserved to him, in the small repose that could be spared from the supply of his necessities.
If there be a government then which prides itself in maintaining the inviolability of property; which provides that none shall be taken directly even for public use without indemnification to the owner, and yet directly violates the property which individuals have in their opinions, their religion, their persons, and their faculties; nay more, which indirectly violates their property, in their actual possessions, in the labor that acquires their daily subsistence, and in the hallowed remnant of time which ought to relieve their fatigues and soothe their cares, the influence [inference?] will have been anticipated, that such a government is not a pattern for the United States.
If the United States mean to obtain or deserve the full praise due to wise and just governments, they will equally respect the rights of property, and the property in rights: they will rival the government that most sacredly guards the former; and by repelling its example in violating the latter, will make themselves a pattern to that and all other governments.

the days’ toil is done, obligations met same as yesterdays before but lifes’ endless trials aint’ beat me yet cause’ i know what i’m livin’ for
life’s not the path that we choose and losing’s good for singin’ the blues
music is the sound of emotion my sisters and brothers so write it all down and we’ll gather to sing for each other
when i’m feelin’ down and can’t rest my head and tomorrow has more pain in store i tune my guitar and light a sigarette and remember who i’m singin’ for
we all have to scrape, beg, and borrow and pride is a huge pill to swallow
I like music because I like math. It tends to separate viable intellect from evolved incompetence...
Besides, a discerning mind is required to recognize and tolerate the limits of apes.
Though music is elementary math. Music communicates through emotions that far surpasses words. My pet line is "music goes where mere words cannot".
John
I like music because I like math is a fair statement in itself because those tones and intervals create interesting and pleasing sounds to our ears Even Stravinsky somehow created interesting or pleasing tones and intervals out of what should not make musical or mathematical sense. But that is a logical look....an intellectual picture.
Emotion brings presence and mood and immersion into the music itself. It experiences what the mind sees independently when it looks at music in the abstract.
That mind\body contact with music...that direct experience with music...that is the magic. If you can create it deliberately...like JLS ...or like you can JAPOV...Steve There's humanity in that

The willfully ignorant take solace in adversarial redundancy, and praise blind loyalty above self determination. Surely a truly reasonable person must rise above any self defeating impulse to peacefully coexist with dumb cattle.

Unless socialist A$$HOLES ATTACK and try to CANCEL you for political reasons... then, SCREW'UM!
Well, so far, the debate mods are actually doing a fair job. However, instead of simply answering questions, TnB are still campaigning by pointing fingers at each other... Very disappointing. Stupid actually.
As an amateur musician/songwriter (actual musician), the "online" concept of collaborating via the "WWW" has always appealed to me... but, has always been very disappointing. I've always been at odds with the "industry" for various reasons, and most anonymous folks in the cloud have always accused me of not taking "songcraft" seriously enough. It seems to me, that chance of being "one in a million" who writes a hit was always enough to drive everybody just a little crazy. All the talk about "intellectual property" and "copyright law" turned me off, and all the salesmen with "inside lane information" pissed me off. I took my talent (for lack of better words) for granted because I was raised in a house full of musicians. I was discouraged from pursuing a "starving artist" lifestyle at a very young age. So, I've always been bewildered by the majority of people online who couldn't (or refused to) understand that I'm only out here to keep my chops up and have a little fun...
Now, it seems the industry and "online powers that be" have managed to discourage the musically inclined from even entertaining each other. Everything is politically divisive, God only belongs in church, the wisdom of the elderly doesn't appeal to the 20'something industry demographic, and AI can do it better anyway. So, what's the point of buying guitar strings if all that's left is the teenage romantic tragedy being propagated on TikTok...?
It's no irony that there hasn't been a truly original band since Led Zeppelin, and what passes for music today is just hammered re-sampled crap with a "hip-hop" beat.
It's truly sad...
Sorry, I'm just lost in lucidity... If not for the catharsis of written complaint, I'd have absolutely no reason to be here.
If I can't be true to myself, express myself clearly and honestly, fearlessly showcase my talent/skill on a public forum that was designed for such, maintain my personal integrity as I interact with others of like inclination... Then please explain to me what the hell is so equitable and inclusive about songwriting?
From my perspective, "Songwriter Sites" have always been prone to clan mentality. Obviously the goal is to somehow reach the "upper echelon" of mainstream media influencers through lyrical rhythmic melody; But, first you must prove yourself worthy of liberal ideology and loyal to status quo...
In other words, you must be an easily pliable, morally neutral "Gumby" with no directional bias, who will only write songs about love and cartoonish introspective vaguery, or openly challenge and reject antiquated norms all in the name of... whatever the current "catch phrase" is.
Consequently, anyone who disagrees is considered politically divisive and disruptive...

Decrepit twisted A$$HOLES!
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
No one is stopping you from posting here Tony. Post away. Whatever tickles your fancy. But it remains each individual's decision as to whether or not someone/anyone wants to become your ongoing playmate.
That aside, I have a question. Is it still possible to rename the thread? I think that "THE MENTAL WARD" would be much better than the "THE RANT ARENA."
Just a suggestion. Rant away. Bark at the clouds. What have you.

((*ORIGINALLY POSTED BY SUNSET POET*)) (Your point is that I am self important and delusion and chasing everyone off.)
Your words...
(I am a realist Tony.)
I disagree...
(I am not here in the pursuit of "fearless" monumental pursuits where I must be free to tell the world my truth and re-create the site in my image...ad nauseum. I have no illusions or delusions.)
"Just Another Point Of View..." Go ahead, be offended.
(I am here because I like to write and post songs and this place is familiar. Sadly, some of what is allowed to go on here, including people who proclaim..."I am a racist" is death to this place... or any place.)
Obama labeled me a racist... I embrace it; But, you know that...
(My guess...)
Is that the best you can do?
(Doesn't matter who does what, The place has faded a lot and wont be here much longer.)
Now who's the prophet?
(There are just a handful of regulars who visit every week. A few months ago, Brian became concerned (desperate) enough to reach out to me and ask why I had not been posting.)
I'm pretty sure he reached out to everyone...
(He doesn't even like me or my songs.)
Wow, how does that make you feel?
(The reason that I was staying away was your posts. I pointed out which one and he appeared to fix it.)
""re-create the site in my image..."" I think Dom is influencing you more than you think...
(This site's only good purpose is to provide a congenial atmosphere, where a group of old guys exchange pleasantries about songs that they enjoyed writing.)
Well... you've certainly never failed at that...
(e.g. "Name That Tune" is the only successful section going on here. Lots of participation. From what I can tell, very congenial.)
I'm truly looking forward to your contributions...
(If JPF is not providing a cordial atmosphere, it is hastening its own demise.)
Marty, speaking of hastening, why are we having this conversation?
(Having said that...it is not my site and I dont want it to be.)
Your inner Dom is showing again...
(Que sera sera.)
C'est la vie...
(As for you...I hear that reddit can provide you people to exchange "truths" and argue with.)
You would miss me... ----------------------------------
Marty, My thread ("MAINSTREAM CRAP") wasn't canceled because of my original post. It was canceled because of the truth that came out, mostly because of YOU... $h!tHead.
