Your boss is giving you a mess of crap
Ya wanna pick up a baseball bat
Your wife is saying all the bills are due
And the kids are doing lousy in school

Worries hit like a Yolonda typhoon
Here's some cowboy logic what to do

Let your imagination
Just float you away
Throw crazy off a cliff
Let it drown next to Clown fish
Toss trouble in a Charlie Chaplin hat
Don't dwell on all that

Still a few broken dreams in my heart
And highways get long in midnight hours
This story guitar don’t run out of songs
With split personalities in a wooden box

I can be in Spain or France in my mind
Strumming along in this tin can double wide

Let my imagination
Just float me away
Throw crazy off a cliff
Let it drown next to Clown fish
Toss trouble in a Charlie Chaplin
Don't dwell on all that

We all wanna be a bit younger
Were all getting a bit older
We want that clock to stop
And when life throws rocks

Let our imagination
Just float us away
Throw crazy off a cliff
Let it drown next to Clown fish
Toss trouble in a Charlie Chaplin hat
Off the hook-Maserati fast
Burn down that frown
Don't dwell on all that

This one is very good. I absolutely love the backing vocals. Pretty complex stuff in there. The stereo sound is awesome. I like it.

All the best

Well... I have to say it... This is two in a row now...

I think whoever's doing your mixing is just taking your money.

This is definitely an Elvis Nash lyric! With an Elvis Nash vocal!
No problem there...

However;
I don't think the music really fits the rhythm and mood of the lyric. It's too mechanical and piecemeal, which makes the VOX seem forced. Yeah', there's a couple cool production tricks in there, but the overall effect seems very "Band In A Box" to me. Like, whoever arranged this, just picked a beat and made the lyrics fit... Like rap with a few samples strung together. It just doesn't feel natural and "organic" to me.

On the other hand, since you've been known to rap a bit, that may be the effect you're shooting for...?

Then, I think I'm hearing a phasing problem with the reverb? It sounds like echo in a coffee can...

Don't swing your knee out of joint lol... Remember to consider the source of this critique, I'm certainly no pro.
But, this lyric deserves a mix befitting your "talk/sing" style.

The journey is definitely more important than the destination...

Well, if you can't hear the difference...

IMO, Mason has definitely done a better job for you in the past.

"Well each song can't please everyone : I try for a new vibe on each song : Or its just a string of sound a likes"
"I have the option of listening to current (hits), say what's going in the blues world , or pop world, or country world , ALT rock world . Like a song and go for their vibe"
"And that's what I do", reference (Hits)."
"The difference ? Yes I hear it . Its about a 20k difference , from Kingfish song ".

"( Hits) is kind of a watered down word to me now, with billions of artists due to the net. "
"But thanks for taking a interest Tony"
"I'm like Dylan when he went electric I guess lol "

Kinda Tony , You have to admit hits are bit mechanical , at least some , with all the AI going on
That's the song I referenced on Dwell

I get what Tony is saying, but I think it works. It does have a loose feel to it, but I like that, when it's well done, as it is here. Very enjoyable.

What do you mean, when you say, "I wrote the melody Tony : Mason just tracked it out." Not sure what "tracked it out" means.

Hey Gavin

"What that means is I wrote all the chords and melody for the song"
"So what I do next is listen to current radio, I might spend a few hours doing that
"What vibe fits what I'm trying to do ? So Mason in Nashville listens to my work tape( which by the way is always just acoustic)" .
Then he listens to : Shoot Me Straight , By Osborn Bros , That's the vibe I'm going for"

Ok sends me tracks to sing to made in Nashville .
Tracks would be everything your hearing without vocals done in Nashville . Drums guitars ect ect , following my chord patterns
I sing it here , he adds BGV's and mix it
And were done

Pro songwriters do the same thing
They make a work tape and Nashville demo studios record the song
The only thing diffrent since I'm the artist , I sing it .
They use killer demo singers , Who ever that might be Gavin
Their purpose is to pitch the song to whoever , Mine's not... just a artist song

I take what Nashville has to offer for my own purposes Gavin , I know my strengths and weakness'es

Why its just a work tape , We never use them , Unless I wanted to travel to Nashville and record on tracks
I write 4 songs a month or so , Its not economically right to travel 4 times a month to Nashville to record
I never put much effort in work tapes , Its basically just a idea , A blue print to follow , Then start from there

Thanks for the explanation, Ben. I thought that was probably it. I recorded a couple of songs in Nashville and did something similar, although I sent them rough BIAB versions with home recorded vocals. Also, since Nashville is not horribly far from me, I went through there and sang the vocals there into a decent mic LOL.

I'm in Calif , if I was younger and more confident on the pitching deal , I'd go twice a month and record , To much work
They would never sing Clown Fish and Charlie Chaplin , I can sing anything if it works.
I'm not concerned what Nashville will sing anymore
I'm not knocking Nashville songs , I just can't be them

Lol...
I'm willing to bet that your "work tape" would lead me in an entirely different direction wink

Besides, you in the raw would be a treat.

Wait...
I mean the naked unprocessed you...
The "Full Monte", so to speak...

Don't take the wrong way!

Its just a ruff version Tony
To be truthful , its takes a day to get in a groove what Mason sends back , I'm just a acoustic player , he rocks it out Tony
My goal is to do a few acoustic shows when I get better settled , get my chops down to sound decent
Naw I'm to old to take offence Tony , lol
So all Mason does is follow my lead , rock it out. Melody don't change , just tracks
How many have we did together ? Maybe 40 or more

Lol...
If I had your money, I'd have a real studio smile

So my ears have been ringing for at least 40 years now. So I bought some medicine , with a picture of an ear on the box and a dropper. So I put 15 drops in each ear . Then I found my glasses , the instructions said 15 drops in water and drink it
the hearing has not improved , one ear crackles when wife bitches about music

I'm way to lazy to own a studio , So I pay guys to make me look good Tony . then take all the credit
Listen to my wife bitch , your wasting money as she supports a 3rd world country and family , On Drum roll , : My country "
I'm teaching her to drive , now the car looks like Barbie lives in there , with smiling bears and half moons and such

Just Plain Quotes
"Parents are notorious for telling you not to do something, but not telling you WHAT to do instead. So here are my thoughts. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, give it a manicure. Don't burn your bridges, go out and build more! And of course, Don't run with Scissors, use them to cut out your press clippings!" -Brian Austin Whitney
