Folks say I look like the Devil You won't see me up there in heaven I'm not much different then the lonesome dove We both dance on corners in mob mentality crowds But they like the coo and not the caw That mocking bird also has its flaws Ch I sit up here in this Crepe Myrtle tree Down there they wonder about me I'm dressed like Johnny Cash With the curse of a black cat Same role, mysterious acting parts From Hitchcock to Tarantino movies I'm just a sad ole crow Hanging around v2 I have to somehow accept myself Southern roots and coal- feathers On the wind with friends ,you'll curse our name If we're a murder, then we've been framed I'll keep flying from north to south When I'm kicked out of ghostly towns ch Br I was in the Garden of Eden Navajos call me evil I stand in shadows of just enough Magic in the moonlight Children point fingers from their windows Ch I sit up here in this Crepe Myrtle tree Down there they wonder about me I'm dressed like Johnny cash With the curse of a black cat Same role, mysterious acting parts From Hitchcock to Tarantino movies I'm just a sad ole crow Are ya'll scared of me ? This misunderstood soul Hanging around
something like that Tony ... I think I sung differently then what lyrics says . Close enough . There's some pro on rhymes,(Berkley school of music teacher) ; all you need is the vowel sound to rhyme , so I learned something . well/ tell is not necessary. Heaven and Devil , Its the vowel E , Not a perfect rhyme . Thanks guys
Very cool Ben. These lyrics make you ponder them--great expressions. I like the music & melody. I do think a break in the music with less...........might be cool to emphasize your last vocal refrain?
Last phrase E ? its drawn out a bit " Hanging around " "The new studio wasn't much help on vocals . I'll try a new one ". He kept losing tracks . Thanks
Ben, all sounds good. Just to reiterate my point. You have a really good sound with the guitars as Mike mentioned, maybe simplify or a least put those guitars back further in the mix on your ending chorus. I believe.....this will emphasize those lines that the listener will by the song's end will have recognized and add some emotion to the song's fin-nally. JMHO however.
Mason Douglass is pro in Nashville , He bumped up Vox a bit on the mix . Sounds fine to me Eddie . If anything vox is upfront , at least what I'm hearing . it's pretty naked out there Eddie lol . I wish I had a better voice , but it gets the story out there .
