Folks say I look like the Devil You won't see me up there in heaven I'm not much different then the lonesome dove We both dance on corners in mob mentality crowds But they like the coo and not the caw That mocking bird also has its flaws Ch I sit up here in this Crepe Myrtle tree Down there they wonder about me I'm dressed like Johnny Cash With the curse of a black cat Same role, mysterious acting parts From Hitchcock to Tarantino movies I'm just a sad ole crow Hanging around v2 I have to somehow except myself Southern roots and coal- feathers On the wind with friends ,you'll curse our name If we're a murder, then we've been framed I'll keep flying from north to south When I'm kicked out of ghostly towns ch Br I was in the Garden of Eden Navajos call me evil I stand in shadows of just enough Magic in the moonlight Children point fingers from their windows Ch I sit up here in this Crepe Myrtle tree Down there they wonder about me I'm dressed like Johnny cash With the curse of a black cat Same role, mysterious acting parts From Hitchcock to Tarantino movies I'm just a sad ole crow Are ya'll scared of me ? This misunderstood soul Hanging around
Crows are actually very smart birds , reading about them . They use tools .

Ben, Very nice write from the POV of a crow. It follows a "Sympathy For the Devil" internal logic that does plenty of "telling" along with the "showing" but I don't think that hurt either write. I expect plenty of "caw" sounds in a recording I hope is forthcoming, if/when you take this to the next level. Good stuff. Mike

Great concept, Ben. I think you should remove "You, You'll, You're" from this... Just be the crow

I got so many songs , I guess I could crank 4 melodies for Nashville Sat 1/ broken commandments done waiting for tracks 2/dramatic moments done waiting for tracks 3/ Crow , do that 4/Don't dwell on all that . do that 5/Kalifornia Krazy . do that 6. I forget. Should go well with paying $175.00 for nothing from Safeway, last night . I could buy a whole steer in 1975 for $175.00 The refer was only $200.00

Not ex wifes again Tony lol. Well ole flames are nice to look back on , just kidding There were many looking back , Kim was one. 19 out of the army , My ole GF said said I'm taken , but pick one out the year book And I did and met her and mother and father the same day ,Walked right up to her door . HI I'm Ben. Gave her the I'm a war hero line , worked like a charm. Have a black belt in Karate. I'm a natural born liar, its a good trait being a songwriter. She gave me a dear john letter , cuz I slept with a bridesmaid's at my buddy's wedding . I was on my way to Ketchum Idaho when I read it . We were laying carpet in condos built by the Kennedy family. Looking back I had little empathy for women . I think I have so much now at 70 years old , I lose alot of money

All my Ex's live in Texas lol. Oh messing with melody till it works , all my songs sound the same . James Taylor I got one in Nevada , Arizona , and New York city . if the one in Nevada worked out, I'd have a mansion on a hill by now. Its odd ,alot crows out this morning hanging out with mamma cat , she's a hunter .
Crows are easily recognized by their jet-black appearance and ominous reputation. As scavengers who eat just about anything, including dead animals, they have become symbolically associated with death. It’s no wonder so many of us get goosebumps when we see a flock of crows nearby – which is incidentally called a murder. They live up to 8-years old.

"Quoth the Raven, nevermore..." Perhaps that's what this needs? Something more ominous? When I see "crow" I just think cornfields and scarecrows lol... Absaroka...? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absaroka_Rangehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crow_people

Navajo's are more common . The tribe your mentioning : might throw listeners in think bode : and miss half the song . The song has a lot furniture in it . So Mason is making tracks , first up at bat . He has my melody . I ended up in a emergency room after one trip to the studio . I thought was a heartattack . It was acid reflux . "Thanks all you PHD medical geniuses"' You sit there , "Can you move this along ? I'm dying here ". The wife texted me : "the dog might be sick also" . "Yes I'll mention that to the doctor" . That's the track , Now sing it sunday . I found a closer studio . Oakland studio is a nightmare on traffic . I nail them in 2 hours , Then back to Nashville . mix all that jazz. https://soundcloud.com/elvisnash/the-crow-for-vox_84bpmI write the melodies , they make it more current, in 2023. Got a little steel guitar in it , They don't do that much , some I guess. Not sure what radio is doing lately .
