Id sing like a male Camila Cabello Play guitar like Misha Mansoor Be a big ole famous movie star Drive a brand new Rolls Royce car Hit the lottery on a billion or so Not blow it on hookers and coke like some do Ch Racing thoughts at midnight Dog barks outside Girl snores at 2am I should take up Buddha Zen I should count my blessings On things half right Could it be Could it be I need a different life V2 I'd be some killer hockey player Like Carrie’s husband baby and slay it I'd be important like Elon Musk Get myself a Hilton lucky trust fund ch Bridge If I had a magic wand with one tap What would you change Swap your life out Or take as is stay the same Ch No racing thoughts at midnight I let the dog inside.. good boy Girls not snoring at 2am Good whiskey did the trick Morning count my blessings On things half right Could it be Could it be I don't want a different life Be a Bobby McFerrin song, Don't worry be happy ya'll Don't worry at all That's right Don't worry at all Man that's life That's life
The more songs of yours I hear, the more I love your artistry. A "preponderence of evidence" as they say, in court. Ha!
This would also work, as would your other songs, in the way that some of Townes Van Zandt's would when he'd do one of his talking blues. You could be openers for lots of touring folk singers/acts and be playing at places like "The Great American Music Hall" in Frisco!
The presentation here, as on others, gives it a bit of a "novelty" feel---which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I hope you are happy with it, cuz taking them "on the road" this way seems impossible.
Yet, at their core, these are quite wonderful songs full of heart-tugs and humor, and I bet your live presentation, if not already so, could be very entertaining.
Mike

Fate doesn't hang on a wrong or right choice Fortune depends on the tone of your voice
-The Divine Comedy (Neil Hannon) from the song "Songs of Love" from the album "Casanova" (1996)
Yep', "Over the Rainbow" may be right in your back yard
Well I just used "The Great American Music Hall" as an example cuz it's a well known spot that every folk act hits when they tour the West Coast. My old neighborhood had "The Palms Playhouse" but that's pretty obscure to most outside of the Sacramento/Davis area.

Ben, if you don't know Townes, this was typical of about a fifth of his songs. I guess it's a Woody Guthrie kinda style/thing. This style reminds me of what you are doing, at root, in your songs, take away all the orchestration. Just sayin'...you might be missing out on more of a "folk" audience, which is what your style, when it's all boiled down to essence, feels like, to me.

??? Lol... I was just commenting on the song
whoops...my bad, I obviously, in hindsight, overthought "rainbow" and tied it to San Fransisco.

Telling me I'm like Towens is praise enough Mike. lol. I read about the guy, he had a tuff life. Pancho and lefty for Willie and Merle. That was a great song. Drug problems , and all that garbage
Well we all wish sometimes we had a better life , But who knows on Brad Pitt , if its perfect . doubt it its novelty , right on the border of corny lol. Its alright . You don't know till you get done with them . Ya listen .. HMMM . Be enough for FB fans Well I like humor Mike , I ditch the sensitive quiet often , If I sang like you , I might get away with it
One day over the Rainbow ? If I wrote that . I could have bought Nashville. What did Judy Garland make it to 47 years old ? So a different life is not a good idea. James does a few funny ones
Yeah, it's an unusual blend of Dylan and old folk music, with modern ideas and references, very interesting. It's enough to make people pay attention, I think a lot of people would stop and say, what the hell is that?? But in a good way.
Usually when an old guy makes music, everything that goes with it is old too.
This is like an old guy who hangs out with younger guys and goes to the go go bar with them.
Very cool stuff, more than any song of yours, I like the overall style and approach.
I've been writing alot about this kind of topic, and heard a great indie who slayed a song with a similar vibe...
its hard being old , you have stay hip on what's going on . Who the hell is Camila Cabello ? No Idea. Quiet honest the bridge don't hit quiet like I wanted it . Thought it might have more impact. This borders on corny really . Next song . what the hell is that ? Yeah probably lol Them lottery winners, blow thru 100 mil in 5 years , amazing. They end up working at Jack In the box. I always ask people , What would you do with it ? Kids always have the same reaction . Party !!
Sacramento used to be a nice one horse town . Its looks like every homeless person in the world in there. Its crowded traffic is horrendous. I was shocked driving thru there , maybe moving there , No way
Yeah that whole 80 corridor from Fairfield up to Sac is a mess . Used to be a place that had a small landing strip with a cafe , Picture of a cow I think That's gone I see. replaced with fast food galore . My dad had a plane , We'd land there have lunch . Fly off to Nevada, land in deserts for kicks. All sac was orchards back then , pretty place. If you drove to Tahoe . On bad corners , they had cardboard cop cars . Get cha every time . Better slow down . I miss my dad from time to time .Sunday calls , "Benny my boy how ya doing"? I used to ride bulls in rodeos in all them dusty towns . Galt , Lodi , Modesto, ect.
