https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14636676I'd like to thank Ed and Mimmo for all their work on this song. Ed was in charge of all the music production, working hard in order to get it to this final stage using Mimmo's original melody. I wrote the words and Mimmo did the vocal. Please have a listen. Copyright ©️ Ed Swartz, Dominic Mercurio(Mimmo)and John Vaughan 2023 BRING ME SWEET DREAMS TONIGHT I’ve dreamt about her and wanted her so, every moment I’ve slept The pathway’s crowded, leading up to where, all my secrets are kept Trying hard, to get over that, I might not see her again Night after night, bliss turns to sorrow it’s always the same….it’s always the same Bring me sweet dreams, won’t you bring me sweet dreams Send me only sweet dreams tonight Pick me up, and carry me away to wherever, she may be And when my head, touches my pillow won’t you take me there? Sweet….dreams…….. Are waiting for me…….. I wonder if, she misses me, cause’ I’m still missing her Parting friends, only makes it harder; maybe she still cares I’m not so sure we fell out of love, could we try it again? After all, that time together it just can’t be the end…… no, no it can’t be the end Bring me sweet ..... Took a chance and called her Told her couldn’t get her out of my mind She said I dream about you every night My dreams are yours and yours are mine, mine, mine And when my head, touches my pillow won’t you take me there? Sweet….dreams…….. Are waiting for me…….. Oh yes ….. Are waiting for me

Yes it does have an Orbi feel to it. I like the instrumentation, which is gentle but I think maybe the kick drum could be a tad lighter for this song.

Hi...Haven't been here much in a long while... This song was a collaboration a while back with John and I... Ed really liked it and produced a whole new song, he recorded the vocals on it, and a few years later he invited me to record the vocals on it...I really liked the idea even though he had a great song already. After a bit more time he completed the project and here we are...Thanks for listening and your comments on here. Regards Mimmo

Hey all…
Like the Orbison influence, but I wanted it over the top Orbison…If a tune is gonna sound like it’s from era gone by, I would just roll with that sound all the way. Clearly make the production in the era of Roy Orbison. Purposely “date” the song, that way it won’t sound “dated”…To me, the song is begging for it. From vocals to music production. Piano is Orbison all day long. Drums are there…They both sound great…
But….Not too crazy about them bells. To me, they soften the tune up a little too much…
Eddie, where’s the electric guitar? Maybe try swapping out the bells for electric Roy Orbison style? Or Orbison guitar licks there instead of bells, or in addition to them? Electric would add a lil’ grit & oomph…
Just my 2 ears worth…

Thanks Tom!
Steve, I think the production "may" sound better certainly "different" the direction you mentioned with Mimmo's vox & style. He gives it the Orbison vibe more than anything. This production was originally a about 3 years back and originally produced with me singing with more of a pop vibe if you go down my song list you can hear. I took this song back into production to give "Mimmo" the opportunity to sing the lead vox as he wrote most of the music although I tweaked the song with some 7th chords and wrote the bridge music,Travis wrote most of the lyrics.
My point here is not defensive, rather that the production originally didn't have the same Orbison vibe and was more "pop sweet and less rock sweet." However, I still like the production with Mimmo's vox as he is more of a crooner than me and that was one of the reasons I wanted to hear him sing this song as his accent I think fits these lyrics quite well. The bells were used to give the song an "ethereal" feel given the the song's title and context. I also think that the song title suggests "Orbison" immediately which may or may not be a good thing? I doubt whether we will take this back into production, but if Travis/Mimmo would like me to augment this production with adding deleting some instrumentation, I would be fine with that. I certainly see your points but not sure we want to go all in for a 60's Orbison feel, but no question it may be better with Mimmo's vox, not sure....
Thanks much for the spin, and maybe Mimmo will chime in with his views.

Great collaboration. Love the production, especially those lush strings.
I'm not a fan of the way the hook fits the melody. The stress is on the word "bring" with the rest of the line de-emphasized. To me this is the wrong way round and sounds unnatural, as if it had been written by someone for whom English wasn't their first language. The stress belongs on the word "sweet." For me, the line would be far better as "SWEET dreams, bring me SWEET dreams." Less crowded and easier to sing expressively too. Just my opinion for what it's worth. Regardless, you guys did a great job here. I really enjoyed listening.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for your comments. The emphasis IMO needs to be on the verb "Bring" as it is the "action word" and the music is written for the accent on that note. I've tried it different ways there and so has Mimmo. It is not music that was influenced by Orbinson's song at all, thus its not "Swee--eet Dreams Baby!" Rather, "BRING" me sweet dreams almost as a pleading phrase, thus emphasis/accent on the verb. No question we could change the song, but this was not a small production and originally finished two years ago and I doubt that we make any major changes, but as always, I appreciate the feedback for future reference and am willing to make small changes should my collaborators desire. I'm pretty happy with it, and we have two productions of this song already.
Thanks again Gavin, always enjoy your 2 cents!
