Front porch stage Verse Old man Otis sat on his front porch swing. He’d wave when a car passed by. On occasion he’d sit playing guitar. To help while away the time. Pre chorus His fingers were tight wire walkers. His voice had a case of the blues. he told me it was from smoking. And too many years drinking booze. Chorus Last week I heard he passed away. But I can still hear him playing. Singing songs from the book of life. Holding court from his front porch stage. Verse He sang songs about people and places. Songs only the broken know. He sang songs about heartache and sorrow. Songs about losing his soul. Pre chorus His fingers were tight wire walkers. His voice had a case of the blues. he told me it was from smoking. And too many years drinking booze. Chorus Last week I heard he passed away. But I can still hear him playing. Singing songs from the book of life. Holding court from his front porch stage. Verse He sang songs about meeting his maker. Songs about Satan and hell. His words took me to faraway places. While his guitar wove a spell. Pre chorus His fingers were tight wire walkers. His voice had a case of the blues. he told me it was from smoking. And too many years drinking booze. Chorus Last week I heard he passed away. But I can still hear him playing. Singing songs from the book of life. Holding court from his front porch stage. Bridge The old man was a storyteller. Some were true and some were lies. But I believed every word he said. I saw the world through his eyes.

I could hear Irish folk singer Christy Moore singing this.
I enjoyed the read very much.
