Joshua A. Idio Page · Musician Joshua A. Idio is a Filipino-American composer, educator, conductor, and trumpeter from New Jersey. www.joshuaaidiomusic.squarespace.comAs summer gets closer and I’m about to finish teaching in school, I’ll be able to work more closely on my compositions, which means I'm able to get back to my big projects. And just a while ago, I was my dad’s assistant at an art festival, and I was so inspired by his successful showcase and future commissions, that I wanted to give this post a shot. I am looking for wind bands to help launch my first consortium. Many of you know that I am currently working on a large piece for symphonic band, detailing in music the art and legacy of the famous Spanish catholic architect, Antoni Gaudi (He made several famous structures in Barcelona, including the Sagrada Familia). Anyone who joins in gets exclusive rights to perform it during a 12-month period after the initial release. They will also have their name included on the score as being part of the consortium. There are three different price points to join in, so it can work with any budget. The work itself will contain 4 continuous movements called “chapters”, with each chapter being tailored to a different viewpoint of Gaudi’s life and art style of work, with the hope of bringing more awareness to his unbelievable story. This is a huge endeavor with the goal of creating a 15-20-minute composition. This piece will also feature a lot of percussion throughout, with the idea of them not just being “accompaniments to winds”, but an important highlight of what I think is an important saga that is worth telling. The full work will be done, I hope, no later than December 31st, and the progress of the project will be updated regularly. You can learn more about the consortium and listen to a few parts of the work here: https://joshuaaidiomusic.squarespace.com/consortiumsIf you know anyone who might be interested in, please feel free to share. And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. While I am very and undoubtedly nervous, I'm also very excited to share this work with everyone. Consortiums — Joshua A. There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com
