Another one from the archives. I wrote this as a valentine to my sweetheart that year, and for some reason she wasn't all that impressed. Oh well. I thought I'd throw it to the wolves. 😇 https://maccharles.bandcamp.com/track/carried-away ~Carried away~ Church bells call the tune, ring across the afternoon, drifting into you, the angels are hushed where you sleep- I won't let them in, keep you for myself again, your sun to warm my skin, we fade our way into the stars- carried away, carried away- born into this bond, so I don't wander endlessly, and feel like something's wrong, without you, I wouldn't know- carried away, all of the world carried on, carried away, all of the world carried on, so we stay here as long as we can, carried away- wind chimes call the tune, sleeping through the afternoon, while all of the world carried on, carried away-

Just a thought... Keep or sweep Your warmth and presence Perfumed satin sheets Just watching you breathe The angels are hushed where you sleep Between rapture and heaven An eternity in my arms Time stands still We fade our way into the stars Carried away Carried away Sweet awakening A rebirth of awareness Burning like the sun The cure for darkness Carried away And the world carries on Carried away And the world carries on So here's where we stay Carried away Dawn comes too soon Sleep through the afternoon The whole world turns around this room Carried away...

Tony,
There's no changing lyrics at this point, fir a couple of reasons. 1: I have terminal cancer and have no time to go back and rewrite stuff if I want to get anything new out into the world. And 2: the lyrics to this tune were wtitten specifically for things between her and I, things that only we would understand the meaning of.
Soo, the thought and effort are appreciated, but it just won't ever happen.
Thanks for the thought.

Thanks for the thought. That's the point... Lol IT'S A NEW SONG Some old guy 'round here keeps saying,"Writing is re-writing..." But, he never collaborates either...

Very pretty, especially the lyric - not that the music and production aren't excellent too and they really create a mood. It sucked me in there as I listened.

Hi Mac! Long time.
Out of the blue I came on to check out some music, and lo and behold, there is another Mac Charles song to check out. Absolutely wonderful, as I expected.
Damn it is hard to read that you are dealing with cancer. Sure, we all know that birth is the leading cause of eventual death...can't get around that one...but it's still difficult to accept, both for every individual and everyone who knows that individual. So know this: Mac, your songs are a gift—always beautiful, always from the heart, always lovingly and carefully crafted, and always well worth the listen. They always surprise me in some way, while at the same time seeming perfectly familiar somehow. You have a rare gift, and I thank you so much for sharing it. You have given me a lot of listening pleasure over the years, and I'd rather hear one of yours than most of what is popular in the world.
I wish you lots of laughs and love in the days to come. I wish you courage and strength, and most of all, I wish you a peaceful passage. This whole baffling experience of life is amazing and beautiful to me, even the fear even the loathing, even the pain, and even the despair. In the end, it is all a rare gift. You deserve to know that you gave back in a big way. Your art is beautiful, and if I outlast you, I can promise that you will still be listened to.
Cheers! —Mark

I thought Mark had posted a song....
Sounds great Mac, maybe some Pink Floyd in there. Yeah, I don't see the point in changing lyrics at this point. I see Tony blaming me for his critique lolllllll.
Touching thoughts by Mark, yeah life is the strangest thing ever, we pop out of nowhere, and left to figure it all out, with no clues. Hopefully, we carry on in some way.
Leading me to Carried Away....
Your music always had a feeling of sailing thru the ether, Mac
Good stuff!

Very pretty and a total mood emotion in this that conveys your feelings...and yes it definitely has a PF flavour and vibe going
Thanks for digging it out for us Mac. Especially grateful for your good days when you can.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Mark,
Long time indeed. I hadn't expected a reply like that, there's a lot to digest. The greatest thing a songwriter can hope for is exactly what you have given me, the promise of my works being remembered or listened to after I'm gone.
I thank you so much for everything you took the time to say here, especily given had the tables been reversed, I would feel the same about what you have given all of us over the years.
Here's to future days!

John,
Pink floyd is a new one, I guess I'll take it. My good days are becoming more and more rare, but I am trying to take advantage of them and get some new stuff done.
Still chugging at this point.😁

"A lot of people will tell you that preparation is what will make you successful. But I think that people misunderstand exactly what that means sometimes. The type of preparation you need most is the kind that allows you to instantly seize an opportunity, change your course based on a momentary circumstance, and grab hold of the totally unexpected when it happens, and allow it to take you for the ride of your life! That is the kind of preparation that can lead to the most enjoyable type of success." -Brian Austin Whitney
