The 9th Annual Moonshiner's Ball will be held at Rockcastle Riverside, in Livingston, KY October 12-15, 2023.

Born out of the intense heat, oppressive humidity, and unique rhythmic sense that marks New Orleans, Galactic burst onto the city's scene in 1994. Through near-constant touring, the band has continued to build a name for itself among critics and fans alike, crossing over into jazz, funk, and jam-band environments. Early on, the band described its sound as "swamp funk," a term originally coined to define the sound of such bayou-bred, funk-fed artists as Doctor John and Galactic's avowed idols, the Meters.
The sound has since expanded, though, to feature Anjelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph, who many of you may know from her years in Tank and the Bangas. Elements of pop, rock, hip-hop and electronica add to the jazz jam fusion that has always characterized their sound, and with the wild charisma of Jelly at the mic, they can take a performance in any conceivable direction.
After 10 albums, over 2,000 gigs, and tens of millions of streams, the proud New Orleans, LA quintet—Ben Ellman [saxophone, harmonica], Robert Mercurio [bass], Stanton Moore [drums, percussion], Jeffrey Raines [guitar], and Richard Vogal [keyboards]—have kept the torch burning through five U.S. presidential regimes, the turn-of-the-century, Hurricane Katrina and a Global Pandemic. They’ve graced the stages at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Newport Jazz Festival and New Orlean’s Jazz & Heritage Festival (a staggering 22 times!)
Suffice to say this is a band loaded with absolute titans at every position, all dedicated to the singular mission that has held true at the core of this band for 25 years – to make everyone dance. Saturday Night will be a New Orleans dance party at the Ball this year! Bring beads. Bring your parasol. Bring your bad self, ready to laissez les bons temps rouler! 💫⚜️✨

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you?
