Haven't posted any lyrics here for a while now, but will now recycle one from the past. Written in 1998, loosely inspired by arranging to meet an aspiring date by the lion statues at the Art Institute of Chicago. It actually was a lightly rainy day when we met, even though in the real world it was in the afternoon and not the morning. Enjoy.
LION IN THE RAIN RINSED MORNING
c1998 Brian Beecher
Rumors floating around at work Can be unsettling for sure Try your best to ignore them if you can
It is possible that someone is Pointing an accusing finger straight at you And clearly it has now got out of hand
Oh, one day I’ll meet you By the lake in Chicago Outside where the artists Come to ply their trade
By the lion in the rain rinsed morning I’ll see you once more In the rain rinsed morning We’ll have a lot to share
We’ll talk of where we want to go And where we have been By the lion in the rain rinsed morning I’ll see you again
Though nothing I could say or do Can change what you are going through It is a good time to get some relief
You could clean the house or wash the car But wouldn’t it be better to Walk down to the shore and get sand beneath our feet
Oh, at times you may feel That you are getting nowhere Wondering what would put you In the right frame of mind
By the lion in the rain rinsed morning I’ll see you once more In the rain rinsed morning We’ll have a lot to share
We’ll talk of where we want to go And where we have been By the lion in the rain rinsed morning I’ll see you again

"A lot of people will tell you that preparation is what will make you successful. But I think that people misunderstand exactly what that means sometimes. The type of preparation you need most is the kind that allows you to instantly seize an opportunity, change your course based on a momentary circumstance, and grab hold of the totally unexpected when it happens, and allow it to take you for the ride of your life! That is the kind of preparation that can lead to the most enjoyable type of success." -Brian Austin Whitney
