More beatlesque quirk from the archives.

https://maccharles.bandcamp.com/track/diving-bell

DIVING BELL

alone tonight,
here in my diving bell,
outside, the pressure is hell,
the sharks are like ghosts in the blue-

nose to the glass,
stare from my diving bell,
now the sun is so far,
like a bug in a jar,I can dream....so serene-

remember the days,
you were amazed,
said you would stay with me,
in my diving bell-

kisses from you,
in the moon pool,
and down to my diving bell,
my diving bell.....the tide was rising-

coral overtook your garden,
I finally set your sea horse free,
if you could only see me....

sneaking by the cuttlefish while they sleep,
swimming on my tip toes, way down deep,
the lion fish roar and the octopus snore....with one eye open-

apprehension, surface tension, just might do me in-
I can't last, come up too fast and break me with the bends-
back to my diving bell-

alone tonight,
a crack in my diving bell,
this note is a short farewell,
watching the water come in-

I'm so glad you're sharing these songs from the archives. They're so full of invention and interest. Maybe not quite as consistently Beatle-esque as the last one you shared, but they definitely drop by and hang out for a while. I love the bass line.

Really enjoyed this.

The beatlesque flavor in this was a happy accident, unlike pilcher where it was intended.

Thanks for the spin.

I like the acoustic piece that bookends the main piece--it remind me of Joni Mitchell's "chords of inquiry" approach of unresolved suspensions and the like.

A multi-sectioned song like this is hard to pull off, but there's so many surprises around every corner that it's pure delight for me. My appreciation of this is offset by memories of "Pet Sounds," "A Day In The Life," "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey," and all-around 'Canterbury Scene' exploratory fun, and ends up making me realize, by comparison, that "Diving Bell" achieves something rather unique.

All executed with a master's touch.

Bravo!

Another track that just instantly gets your feet wet and has you floating. Very clever lyrics and oh so listenable with a superb but sad ending. Take a bow.

Wow, given the short list of songs given, I'm overwhelmed ......high praise, thank you.

Love the slow and dream like start which leads to a sobering wake up.
Just a great production. I really dig the concept.

Really dig the unorthodox song structure. Can feel the Beatles influence and it also reminds me a little of Bowie's Space Oddity in the lyrical theme, someone lost and kind of disconnected. Enjoyed listening, good stuff!

Gerry, most don't usually catch the resignation of the ending! Or the underwater pings at the fade!

Thanks for the spin!!
