https://soundcloud.com/artwhimsically-yours/folksy-dreams-ii-by-frank-dana-matthew-f-blowers-iii“FOLKSY DREAMS.” The Instrumental Only version of this song can be heard at: Dana-instrumental – My-folky-dreams I fell asleep and wound up back in 1962 almost 60 years erased from everything my future knew no cell phones, no computers no air conditioners too to cool me from my heated sweat wondering what I was to do. Lying next to me was my guitar on a paisley covered spread in a strange bed I had never known as it’s wonders filled my head With its walls covered in posters made by long ago promoters Woody Guthrie, Belafonte, Joanie Mitchell and Bob Dylan all staring down around at me with Pete Seeger on the ceiling. I picked up my guitar to calm me down and play my tunes but they were not what I had written as their music filled the room they were oh, so soft and mellow and I realized my vocals were crying out for some great change.... My entire genre rearranged even my own body it had changed I could see myself reflected in the mirror next to my bed my long hair had been shorn away I had a crew cut on my head my shirt was made of denim and I was wearing old worn boots plus a vintage pair of Levis Man, I really was confused?? I went outside and realized that I was in a place that folks called Greenwich village which defied all time and space so I went back in and grabbed up my guitar. my only friend and when I stumbled on a club I knew I’d found “The Bitter End.”. There was a sign hung in the window calling for folk singers to audition for upcoming gigs something I thought I’d pursue since my music had been skewed into something they all knew. That manager he loved me and he booked me for ten nights where every song I played on stage brought the audience delight. Then soon enough I found great fame where everybody knew my name agents offered me huge contracts to record my songs on vinyl tracks but sadly sleep’s cruel morning rose and I woke up a King deposed. Exiled forward to my present time in 2023 where my music only earned me less than one cent for each stream??!! and I knew then I had tumbled from a lovely folksy dream where making music was more fun but I had split that scene. While Spotify and other sites took so much more from what I write...(greedy) I could not wait till the next night but that sweet dream was my last flight back to those friendly sixties and the royalties they’d gift me once again a starved musician. where I’d spend each night just wishing for that long lost folksy dream knowing it was lost to me So excuse me while I scream for what was never meant to be as I sit and tally my chump change for all that I’ve done musically. Not sure what happened here, but it almost sounds like someone singing along to the music as it plays on a boom box across the room. The whole thing is really thin sounding. It's a shame because it sounds like a cool acoustic groove, it's just hard to hear.

I like that this has a catchier melody than some of your stuff, but I think it could maybe do with a chorus to break it up and add interest melodically. I enjoyed the story.
I have to agree with Mac about the production. I don't think it does justice to the song.

Matt,
I've learned never to expect convention with you.......so suffice to say, I related and love to daydream myself.......and if I could have Scottie beam me back to well maybe not 1962 when I was eleven, but about five years later.................!!

Well I'll be... You went and got yourself into a nice little "vocal rhythm" here, Matt. And still got ALL the words in! Pleasantly surprising change of pace

"Defeatist Pessimists and Rose Colored Glasses Optimists are lonely companions, victims even. Both ideologies imply predestined outcomes, and therefore breed inactivity in its victims. Inaction is the only sure way to lose at anything in life. All positive action guarantees at least a fighting chance." -Brian Austin Whitney
