I am not much of a critic, so here is another song. Please feel free to delete it, if I post too many. Again, I am physically disabled, living in the Projects. After 25 years of trying to contact everyone (talent agencies, special talent agencies, major and independent record labels, etc...), a producer took pity on me, and now helping me to produce songs that should have been on the radio, 20 years ago......
(VERSE 1) Is it not strange how funny life can be? We laugh at the times that we should cry. And when we really love somebody, we want them to be happy, so we say good-bye.
(VERSE 2) Easy way out is always the hard one. Our memories are part of you and me. And I will always miss you in my life, but I know you will forget about me.
(CHORUS) And maybe, I'll become the shadow that will be watching after you, or maybe, I will be the lonely sun that always shines only for you.
I will become the autumn wind that follows you with fallen leaves, or maybe, the icy, winter blizzard to sing you lullaby of frozen dreams.
(VERSE 3) You think you fool me with your smile. Baby, I know you way better than that. I think it is sad that what I am saying does not say what needs to be said.
(VERSE 4) And I if am not the love you seek, I hope you will find it someday. And I just wish you'll never feel the feeling that I have today.
(CHORUS) X 2

This is a 'Singer-Song-Writer' style, so the more poetic and lengthy Lines can work in that genre. In a more 'pop' style I would expect THE Hook to be clear and Repeated a minimum of three times. This style may accomplish that with a poignant Chorus.
Perhaps this should have been on radio 20 years ago, but I'm not sure it isn't right in vogue with 2023.
Great Melody. I don't think I'd get the words without the Lyric sheet, but that may be more the way music is consumed in 2023, downloads, streaming, often with a video displaying the Lyric as it is sung. At 4:36 it's a bit long, perhaps, for terrestrial radio where short Songs leave room for commercial ads that pay the bills. But a good Song gets consideration if it has Hook Factor. That Lyric, and the Melody to which it is sung, has Hook Factor.
But that poetry; Man! Ain't nothin' wrong with that...well, except I'm always looking to delete 'And' and 'But and 'Cause' from Lines. But...that's a Song-Writer's 'Judgement Call'. Good stuff Michael. The Arrangement is good. The Structure is good.
There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com
Hey Michael, nice work. Looked you up online and quite the back story. My Dad had ALS so I'm quite familiar with disabilities. Kudos to you for overcoming and creating art that will touch many people. Keep them coming.
Thank you so much ))) Happy that you like this song, a victory, in my book! Speaking of music sheets, Michaels Lyric®, (available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble) is the official lyric guide for Michaels Lyric music. Again, the price is set to the lowest, so it would take thousands of sales to get to the minimum payout amount of $100, virtually never. In the list 13 years, 7 copies have sold...
