Hi everyone, and happy Thanksgiving. I have a new version with added instruments that I hope you all like.
Any and all comments are welcome, while first impressions are most welcome. I played a little game with myself, adding syllables to the lyrical verses as the song progressed.

"Let's Go Fishing" (New Version)

Words & Music by Tom Tognaci

https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14512089

Oh, good grief.... where's the beef? 3 / 3
We don't have a solitary thing that we can sink our teeth in. 9 / 7

We had our hoax...that fooled some folks 4 / 4
But our sour grapes slipped on bananas while we had twice tried to impeach. 10 / 8

Well, we got it wrong......the backlash was strong 5 / 5
and so now concerns with martyrdom 9
leaves only one thing to be done.... 8

...Let's go fishing,
before we put this guy on the cross and nail.
Besides, we might get lucky,
and catch us an orange whale.
You remember Quint and ole Ahab?
Well, the one thing they never had.....
a party tradition of witch hunts and phishing.

We got the F-16's, the governmental means. 6 / 6
And, we have the will to extinguish riots and any protests we deem unfit. 11 / 9

But it's not enough... the saint thing is tough 5 / 5
So, before we stub another toe 9
we'll all head to Mar-A-Lag-O....... 8

...Let's go fishing,
before we put this guy on the cross and nail.
Besides, we might get lucky,
and catch us an orange whale.
You remember Quint and ole Ahab?
Well, the one thing they never had.....
a party tradition of witch hunts and phishing.

I'm a big fan of your music, Tom.. the feel takes me back a long way to a bit of the folk era of the '60's. The lyric is conversational which IMO is what songwriting is all about. I really like the simplicity of the guitar and your phrasing is spot on. I am less concerned about the content and more into the delivery and your delivery is very good.

I think Steve is spot on. Agree or disagree with the content, you have a wonderful way of putting your point across with humor and a light lyrical touch and always a great melody and performance. Great song.

I'm on board too Tom

Great campfire song. There is a little rhyme that this reminds me of

Everyone is happy around the campfire except Jenny Little 'cause she's in the middle

You know how to do it, Tom.

Vic

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.

Great theme Tom and its doing well chart wise too I see!
Tes as someone commented a 60s feel, that's when most of the best political comment, musically were made I think. But they of course have timeless qualities
This slots in there well.
Great song

Fine, I get it... I even appreciate that you wrote it from the Dems perspective... However, I think your premise is wrong. The whole "saintly savior" thing was Obama's shtick, not Trump's. It would be pretty hard to make Trump a martyr lol wink

Oh, no,no,no............of course the Left had to turn around our observations of sainthood towards obummer.
They made the claim that we were making a Saint of Trump, only to "make it even". It is childish, and completely a Leftist move.

True, very true! The left accuses the right of everything they've done themselves... How do you think Obama actually served two terms? The "fix" has been in for longer than most realize... That's not to mention all the shady dealings with Iran during that time. Hell, I could point my finger all the way back to "Wild Bill" and Hitlery, but nobody would care anymore. And everyone acts like they're baffled at how Trump won on "DRAIN THE SWAMP". Then, of course, AOC and the squad are the very definition of juvenile... and Lurch Fetterman, the new brain damaged senator of Pennsylvania? Really? OMG, What a mess...

Exactly.
- We point out that there were those that raised obummer to messiah status..........the Left claims that we are doing the same w/ Trump.
- We accuse the Left of attacking the second amendment........the Left accuses us of hating the constitution
-We accuse the Left of hating free speech ...........the Left accuses us of censorship.

The dims play this schoolyard game of "I'm rubber, and you are glue......the bad you say bounces off me and sticks to you".

Unfortunately, that still works for half this country.

The sad thing is that you guys actually believe this stuff,

The happy thing is that it seems to drive you to write great music.

And that's what we're actually here for. So we all win. smile

I'm sorry, Gavin. I don't want to get into an endless debate.
Did you see / hear the address biden gave to the world, with that red backdrop, some months ago?
I believe he believed every word he preached.

As far as the music I write, I was much more popular, on-line, with "Once", "All By Myself" and the like. It's taken me decades to learn to discern the truth.
May God bless you.
