The only logical way to do this would be to do an actual mix of the actual recordings, why would you need your own versions of the songs?
But if you really wanted, you could probably find karaoke versions online of these songs, and then mix them together, and then sing over them. That would eliminate alot of the work, but would still be a challenge.
Id shoot for an actual medley of the commercial recordings, you're only giving it to your wife... not selling it!

There's such a wide array of styles here David... "Medley style", do you mean like, a string of choruses played by one guy with an acoustic, or more of a full production mash up?

I realize the ask seems goofy. But like I said, I thought it might be cool to use this idea as an opportunity for another JPF member to make a little side money. You are correct in that the compilation would be for private use only. Thanks for the read and the suggs!

That's kind of what I was thinking, yes. (a string of song samples played by one guy / girl with an acoustic/ piano/ oboe/ whatever. ) I should give some more thought to what parts of the songs would provide the most impact since they can hit you from different places. The intro, chorus or just a single line in the 3rd stanza. I'll see if I can get a bit more granular on the details.
I truly appreciate you all taking the time to read and respond. This interaction is exactly why JPF is so amazing.

I wouldn't call it goofy, it's just a lot of work. I wouldnt take money for it, but I think it would take too much time. Im trying to do my own music, and that keeps getting pushed back. Thats alot of songs, and alot of work, lol. If somebody wants to take this on, id suggest using karoake background tracks, i bet many of these can be found for free on youtube and other places... in fact i know they can. You could mash these up so they all play back to back, would just need to sing over them... do you sing? Shed probably like to hear you singing them. ALl those songs are quite famous, and checking they are all on youtube. Or you can buy them. Trust me this will save you tons of time, and is much more doable.
