Heres a thought
What do you consider to be the best one line ever written in any song? The one that made you say WOW!
My choice is
Cause I CANT MAKE YOU LOVE ME IF YOU DONT
Its was such a great way to say the old cliche..... you dont love me anymore. Whenever I start to get lazy in my songwriting, I just think about that line and give myself a slap on the side of my head and say ...you can do better than this garbage youre writing now.
Just one line only and if you want to give your reason that would be cool. You can even choose a line you may have written in a song.

Unfortunately Vnorth, this is pretty much what you can expect from a topic like this, it's just not as interesting to SONGWRITERS as A Republican Democrat face off.

The best line I think I ever wrote was in the song "Or You Can Choose to Follow Me"...it's the line
"These are the scars of who you are"
even JAPOV thought it was pretty good...lol

Its hard coming up with one line, most of the ones i can think of stretch between two measures, two lines of the same thought.
But I came up with a few more....

I responded to the JPF Facebook post about this very topic and I've since come up with a few more  By far my favorite is "only tragedy allows the release of love and grief never normally seen" from the absolutely amazing Kate Bush. It's her song All The Love, from the absolutely crazy but amazing album The Dreaming (which was released 40 years ago today!) Others: "I just know that something good is gonna happen." Kate Bush - Cloudbusting (I had the "something good" part of this line tattooed on me last year!) "I'd rather die than satisfy their curiosity, I'm kind of shy and dry and verging on ugly." Pet Shop Boys - Bet She's Not Your Girlfriend "My heart is a concert hall, and I filled it with you." Florence + the Machine - Conductor "I've got your name on my face, your face on my mind."
