Blow Off Go Away © 2021 John Voorpostel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVBj2kghxv0“I was so gone”, she whispered from the shower As I lay there on the bed just half awake Still I heard the words and for the birds and for the wine I saw it coming as a blow off go away Some small talk about work and pressing matters on hand She said “Time’s of the essence when it starts to make demands” The coffee bean and bitter blues, gets served up boiling hot It’s just the way its always been the why’s been long forgot “See you some time”, she turned and sprang away Left me standing shirt on backwards in her wake Straightening out my clothes my worthy flaws came from the hand I didn’t play; a blow off go away Some small talk about work and pressing matters on hand You know “Time’s of the essence when it starts to make demands” The coffee bean and bitter blues, gets served up boiling hot It’s just the way its always been the why’s been long forgot It’s all done with mirrors, keep your eye on the flash A bit of three card monte so the grifter makes some cash Heading for a subway you can take anyplace An easily delivered blow off go away Some small talk about work and pressing matters on hand You know “Time’s of the essence when it starts to make demands” The coffee bean and bitter blues, gets served up boiling hot It’s just the way its always been the why’s been long forgot

When I first read this lyric I never would have imagined flamenco. Interesting meld, well suited for a female vox

I got to start hanging around here more often............................... When I first read this lyric I never would have imagined flamenco. Interesting meld, well suited for a female vox LOL, At first I thought you (JAPOV) were kidding...........but as I listened, yea....flamenco! Love the lyrics....your delivery seems unrehearsed, but the melody and style shines thru. I like your writing! Good stuff! -T

So when the music came I never consciously thought "flamenco" Tony
It is a pretty fresh song...so I will probably do a retake at some point when I become more comfortable...sometimes my excitement gets the better of me and I say yeah move on to the next song (a touch of my ADD??) . But the music errr flamenco will likely stay
Thanks for checking in..flamenco eh...:)

Thanks Tom...nice to hear that about the lyrics. And Tony, since responding to you I googled flamenco to get beyond my rudimentary spanish\mexican type dancing kind of music understanding to get a broader exposure to the art at through what was written about flamenco, and listened to various samples... and I'm not sure I'm hearing what you are I needed a bang bang I was so gone (linger) bang bang bang bang she whispered bang bang from the shower bang bang kind of feel. If you can reconcile that to flamenco that sounds good to me. And yeah as I said it's still pretty fresh. What is neat is that I'm going through a bunch of songs in "sittings" so I have actually changed some I'd posted previously I did an earlier Muse song entry called Waiting For The Rain for example. Was a rough take but since then it's been changed Funny story. Just before this I'd gone to take beer empties down to my car and check my mail. I now live in a condo at the very western edge of Toronto, and my car is down at P2. Went to my car first then on the way up I was in my head with this song trying to hear what it could be, I was back in my condo before I realized I forgot to check the mail. As a side note the song shares bones with you can wear my hat and that is based on an earlier one I have not put up as a lyric or song anywherwe yet called Tell Eddie. The basic initial part is the i IV (Am D, Bm E....) interval which I've managed to use in three different ways now to build the first parts of the song. The rest becomes about how you make it back to the Am... Using that i IV actually came from hearing Raquel Vidal's Tell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR-tZw1iSbc&ab_channel=raquelvidalRaquel is a NYC Hudson Valley artist who is a coach and coordinator for Dar William's Write A Song That Matters song retreats ...wonderful experience I will do again AC. Thanks again T&T

Wow Tony thank you for working that example out for me ...got it...I think...yes I am accenting that first downbeat, then a couple of quick ones...so that it does give you that feel...i hear it now Like I said though, that was not on my mind so totally accidental
