It is interesting that the advice shared here many years ago was on the money. It's even worse than we feared.

I wonder how relevant these suggestions are today... Thoughts, anyone?
Peace,
Dave

I gave up the pitching thing and pro demos , that can make you homeless . That Bible -Belt dream will put you in dire straights . I just be the artist and a few laughs . The odds on your song being radio and picked up by a major is about 00000000000001 %. Thats a high number . but Nashville will continue doing 100000s of demos going nowhere , but your hard- drive. Nashville is basically a gambling casino with Jesus as a black jack dealer . like the cliche says , " The house always wins " it was easier getting cuts , before the internet was invented . now everyone is a writer gambling on the dream . He's about the only guy I trust in the music business , You can try him. Here's what I liked and dis-liked about working with Nash Writers 1/ You learn the craft of songwriting , hands on . likes 2/ I don't like the cliches they use , thats prevalent in country songs. dis- likes Nashville still might be a 10 year town , you move there work your ass off as a staff writer , you'll be on radio . https://songwritingpro.com/members/profile/231Here's the thing with endless cliches in country music , A 23 year old is just starting off in life , its all new to them . How many songs do you write before one hits radio ? Common theme 1000. The first 400 suck . how many just good songs have been done in Nashville , No idea maybe 4 billion , Never saw radio . Will Nashville demo a shitty song ? sure not their problem . Here's my take you've blessed by music , I would trust that , you could be living a tent on believing that.

I guess it's a possibly to still get a cut , Indys anyway . Majors ? Not sure . I think most of them are real good writers , it better be mind blowing . Well Songtown would be a place to go on all that . you can talk with hit- writers and publishers . it's combative on all that . You better have deep pockets to keep churning out demos . I hope you have a sense of humor , you're going to need it and a calculator .
Find some good bullshit stories to tell your wife why your doing this , be prepared for bribery.
Happy wife happy life and all that cliche bullshit
