I've been building musical instruments. My wife got me a mandolin kit at the beginning of the pandemic. I had little experience in woodworking but I enjoyed building it. After that, I got a mountain dulcimer kit from the same company (Musicmakers) and finished that. Then I bought the hardware for a lap steel guitar and designed the rest of the instrument around it. Since I enjoyed building an electric instrument and since I've really been getting into the dulcimer, I ended by building a solid-body electric dulcimer from scratch, using my own design. Just finished that one a few weeks ago. It's been fun but I'll probably stop now. I have everything I want to play and I don't have room to store these, let alone any more. But I thought it would be fun to record a track where the sounds came only from these four instruments. Here it is: https://youtu.be/ezj4NDfntqkScott

Fantastic! I've always wanted to design an electric guitar body for folks who like to play while reclining on the couch

Hmmm, I think that's worth thinking about.
