You are better than nothing. You are a legend in your own mind.
That is part of a twisted mind's delusion.
There is nothing exemplary about your music.
You are here amongst old hobbyists because there is nothing exceptional or worthwhile about it.

That legend somehow co-resides in those shadows with a self professed loser.

You are an administrator John. Why dont you do something about a loser who launches insults such as "douche" when I state my opinions regarding the fallacies of his?
That way, I wont feel the need to return the insults and become your assessment of a stooge.

Is it because you like seeing it go on?

Are you Shemp?

There may not be anything exemplary about me or my music, I would not teach anybody to be like me, but you SUCK, plain and simple.

Lets take football, a quarterback who doesnt overwhelm but didnt cause his team to lose, we consider an ok quarterback. They wish for a superstar like Tom Brady, ut they can live with a guy who doesnt turn the ball over.(Suck on his songs) Then somebody like you steps on the field, and people in new york or new jersey would be calling for your head.

Im not great, but im certainly better than you. Anybody with ears can figure that out.

You're not fooling anybody with your fake mr benevolent, you are a full throttle, pedal to the medal antagonist, and whats worse, you stink yourself.

Why would someone truly care what a self labelled loser thinks of their hobby or their person?
I am not going to change my music or anything else to conform to a loser's paradigm.
That would be ridiculous.

Nobodys asking you to change your music, you have the right to stink, but you're not going to tell me what this site is for, and what I should or shouldnt say to people here.

And again, any idiot can hear the difference between you and me, which is why you cant figure it out

I think ive defeated you enough for now, keep talking.

You dont ever truly defeat anything or anybody here or anywhere else....beyond yourself...and I doubt that you have much left to lose anyway.

Your level of songwriting skill does not exceed mine or anyone else's here. That is why you are here arguing with me and others.
And why you are not somewhere else doing something better.

This is who you are. This is your league.
And your proclamations of prowess are pathetically similar to watching some fat kid on a playground tell another fat kid that he is slow in the 100.

FD loves imperfect rhymes
Like "empty headed Martin Lide"
He spews them out to feel real good
See Dum Dum Dom's misunderstood
It seems he gets upset at us
To get his empty points across
I say we'd all get better off
If Dum Dum Dom would just get lost

Happy Tuesday FD and I enjoy your constant winning here. It is a great example of how not to make friends and influence people

I thought maybe the "Three Stooges" comment may place things in perspective. Anyway, can you guys find something you all agree on?

I remember a kid in my neighborhood I was always getting in heated arguments with (in retrospect, stupid issues). Anyway, we started shoving each other around. We were headed for a fist fight. My dad came out, and laid boxing gloves on the ground in front of us (a previous Xmas gift) Ė and left. We ended up putting them on, and have a boxing fun day. My dad told me later that if we were going to fight, at least he didnít want anyone getting hurt bad.

Donít know what to throw in front of you guys, but insults hurt. Better to debate an issue intelligently, without personal attacks. In other words, no punching below the belt.

Best, John smile

Nice words John. But not gonna to happen and you know it.

Dominic cannot help himself. When someone contradicts his various positions, he gets mad and the personal insults start coming.
Sooner or later the person on the receiving end of things such as "douche bag," starts handing them back and the spiral goes forth.

Dominic can't stop himself from sending out the insults. He is broken. But you can. Floating in with some condescension such as a "stooge" reference is pointless. And is just a momentary pause in the insults
.
You are an administrator. Administrate. You are allowing dysfuntional Dominic to be the defacto establish-er of the behavioral tone for a website that you administrate.
Step back from that and view how little it makes sense.

AND IF...you are looking at your screen thinking that the real problem is this guy Martin? I have an opportunity for you.
Plainly state that you want me to leave the site and not come back....and I will. Dominic can have it (a "win").
At this point, cordial disagreements with him are not possible and if an administrator thinks that the issue is me...it only makes sense to withdraw.
Ultimately little time is spent on music anyways.

My presence here is your call...as long as you make an unequivocal call.

Baited breath. wink

Martin

No, I'm not singling anyone out Sunset. And I certainly don't want anyone to leave. I'm not a pschiatrist. Don't know what the root problem is here. But don't make me hand out the boxing gloves. One thing in common... we all love music. BTW, I'm just a last resort administrator. Kind of a token administrator. Better to resolve this on your own, before the heavy-weight administrators jump in.

Best, John smile

Not realistic John.

There is no resolving anything with Dominc.
He seems to be some bent soul who must live with a bunch of cats.

As far as big guns and so forth...its just a song site. Life will go on without it.
I enjoy talking about songs and I enjoy debating things as you may have noticed.
The problem with Dominic is that he drags it all to a low level and makes it stupid and dull and then starts slinging insults.

He cant change. He is broken. I dont like being insulted, so for now it is just status quo.

I set you up with a clean walkaway. You might should have taken it.

Martin, give back as well as you get....but to set the kind of ultimatum you did is not the way to go

I don't have the insight on Dom to know whether or not he is broken...but I do know that lashing out at those who disagree with you is not a good debating technique

I also know that following people around this forum to call them out is kinda creepy.

But it takes all kinds and I am happy to simply shoot back with hopefully some sarcasm or such ...so I can at least mix in some fun constructing my response.

If you really want nothing to do with him, just set him to "ignore" and he will totally go away. You will not see or hear from him anymore.

To do so, click on his name...it is one of the settings you will see and it comes in very handy in certain situations. Never done it myself here...but it is a viable option.

Disagree somewhat John. First off, ultimatum is a stronger word than anything I was feeling. Clearly by definition , it was an ultimatum. But for me ,it was just an opportunity to say.... this guy Dominic drags things down to lower than stupid in my opinion... but if you think the problem is me... I'm good to eliminate myself. For me, that is no big Line in the Sand... that is just blowing it off and walking away.

I didn't know about the ignore thing. It's more my nature just to deal with people. Dominic challenges that because he is a level of stupid the actually becomes boring. So I may give the ignore button a try. Thanks for the tip

John he wants to see what im saying, because he wants to jump and try to intercept anything I say. Broken to him means,I see how totally useless and pointless fartin Martin is, and doesn't allow him to spread his uselessness to others.

Lovely song...is his new comment on TS he was a smug irritating baiting loser. Nothing has changed, except he now thinks hes worth something

The guy is in the words of the immortal bugs bunny, a maroon. Were on a songwriting site, and he wants nobody to comment on the song...only the recording, and his recording is probably worse than his songs.

He found a hobby he likes, and now tries to act like a model citizen. Hes so afraid hell be judge on the content of the song.

Im not talking nitpicking, im usually talking about the music. If the lyrics are at least coherent and get the job done, im not going to worry about that, i wrote mostly power pop, its very hard to cram alot of words into those smal spaces. I try, im not bernie taupin in that regard. But working on songs should be first and foremost.

He has been trying to put me in a bad light, but I know for a fact nobody is convinced..

And my friends call me Dom, you guys can call me wally

My apologies Wally. No more Dom. I agree it alliterates too well with Dum Dum so ok, no more Dum Dum Dom

Now Wally, if you are trying to claim Martin has caused you to be seen in a bad light around here, that is a Woefully Warped Wally opinion as I believe you have been doing that mostly on your own

Happy to re introduce civility and goodwill into discussions FD because I am not here to continuously spar with you.

But I am an intensely curious person with an interest in a great many things around me and a need to understand the world around me

I'm also an INTJ (google it if you want). One of "our traits" is confident expression of opinions...which we are perfectly willing to amend if we are shown to be wrong.

That "constant curiosity" and need to understand the world goes a long way in explaining why I tackle your various theses. AND why I show such a keen interest in US affairs

If you would logically explain why your position is merited, you have to convince me with reason, not call me names or lash out.

So if you want a reset, change tactics. Your current strategy is not working

Still didnt ask you for that tidbit.

You are here for various unimportant and useless reasons. You do nothing but jump into conversations and tell everybody how much you know.

I dont have to prove anything to you, if I say songs are important, fight me on that. But if not important, what the hell are you doing here.

You are like the various old timers who started out with the right intention, but got bored and now come out of habit. It is a tough habit to beat, but actually being involved in music might make it more interesting.

Ray did the same thing, came to shoot the breezee and shoot liberals. If Ray is not out making connections for his songs, at this moment, Ill eat my hat.

Frankly I enjoyed Ray, he wasnt as present in EVERYTHING as you are, do they not have TV in canada?

Bring back Ray, send these bums off!

Just saw JLS post. And fartin martin trying to sway. See thats what he does. He talks (out of his arse) about me, to get more support in his stance. He was constanty mentioning Mike Zaneski and MAB, because he couldnt stand on his own words. He thought (erroneously) that by bringing them up, it would help him win the debates.

And btw, there wouldnt be a debate if he didnt feel a need to open his mouth.

BIAB is a amateur toy compared the pro market. This statement drives him crazy, its so true, and he cant figure out a way to deny it, So he name drops thse guys, hes now using my name, which also didnt work, hes failed every time in trying alternative ways to win an argument... and he loses every argument, so I suppose thats why.

And JLS has the right idea, hes not watching every thread with a magnifying glass trying to discern who started what. and unlike Marty he is capable of thinking for himself and deciding for himself who he wants to deal with.

There are many people here I have no issue with, its only the omni present big mouths who want to control everything

Its easy for me... He believes BIAB and his production skills are great...listen to it. Argument over.

if he left things alone, id never talk to him and he never me. Works for me, but he instigates.

Notice the first comment when I posted this thread. Who was it? Mouthing off, intentionally trying to agitate.

THAT'S who he is and why nobody on TS liked him.

Ok I tried

Really looking forward to your first big hit that I just know will be out of this world due to your self described technical and creative prowess, knowledge of everything musical, and ability to change how hits are made by turning the music business into a more fair and equitable system.

I'm particularly interest in how your obviously evident people skills will contribute to your err level of success

First of all, I never once said I had any level of prowess, simply that im better than fartin martin.

I dont believe ill ever have a hit, not for one minute. All im trying to do is work on my craft and get better, thats the fin for me. If I can get a placement on tv or movements, id be happy. But as the man said anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Your using fartin Martin tactics now. Because i give an opinion of a song, or songwriting in general, that I must be great. Im a work in progress.

But nice try

You totally missed the sarcasm I guess.

I don't for a second believe you will get that hit either..not because you are not talented...I have no idea. I have not seen or heard anything from you.

But I do know people only do business with people they like and your thin skin, combatitive nature, name calling and internet trail of postings is going to give people pause.

That will be your biggest challenge.

Now wait a minute. Doesnt thick skin mean accepting a criticism? If BIAB hurts your feelers, good riddance.

No, it has nothing to do with talent or lack of, or thick skin, it has to do with, there are HUNDRED OF THOUSANDS of songwriters

And I believe one year only 7 songs that were played on top 40 radio all year were written by other people.' Today the trend seems to be songwriting groups.

The only chance of miniscule sucess is to do it yourself, and look for opportunites

But I have other interests and concerns if all else fails.

This is Dominic's assessment of himself. Stop and think about that.
If someone tells you that they are a loser...believe them.
If you hire an employee and they tell you that they have a problem with kleptomania....believe them.
Broken people have a tendency of telling you what is in store.
On top of that, Dominic's brain is so murky that he offered that self assessment up to someone who is adversarial.

Clearly he is belligerent and takes pride in that. You appear to be trying to come to terms and take the high road out with someone who is a belligerent loser in their own eyes.
That is hopelessly broken. It is futile to attempt.

The only worse thing that you could do is give credibility to anything that he thinks or says.

It's sad, but you cant fix it.

No Marty I can't take one line and assume that is everything. Not piling in on that

I think he takes too much baggage into conversations which makes him say stupid things about people, their motivations and their situations.

He's described me in no uncertain terms on a number of occasions as he has you and others, terms sometimes wild, sometimes based on no foundation, sometimes when he should have known better.

His motivations seem unclear to me but sensitivity and insecurity are worthy of discussion, especially in light of his desire to win at conversationing and arguing and semanticising here and there

I actually told Dom I am an INTJ which would give him insight into winning me over but he totally loughed off that opportunity to go back into what you called a Mount Moron eruption. It had been an attempt on my part to say talk to me in reasonably articulated and logical ways and talk facts and reality and truth the best you can

Best of all say something interesting ....which is something he actually can do well to sometimes less well.

I think Dom is just younger and more idealistic and full of piss and vinegar than we are ....definitely an adult but I'm seeing 37...may or may not be marries, and I don't think he has kids

Those things mellow and mature you as does age.

Come on you guys! Take a breath, step back, and try to see this for what it really is... "I'm always right, you're always wrong, douches, boogers, and enemas, I win!"

Well John V

Good luck with all that.
You liberal types often view hopeless endeavors with optimism. So see if you can do what no one else could.

I'll watch.

Marty

Ps...for real...if you hire an employee that oddly drops out of their mouth, that they have a problem with kleptomania....watch your stuff. wink

I guess that's kinda like

"Let's eat Grandma" versus "Let's eat, Grandma."

Punctuation, cadence and inflection matter. Particularly if you are grandma.

John V...as long as we are looking at words...For the record...

Definition of ultimatum
: a final proposition, condition, or demand
especially : one whose rejection will end negotiations and cause a resort to force or other direct action

I made no demand or threat. I offered John S an option with him having full control of the outcome. He didn't take it. Status quo. Let's try not to get carried away here.
