"I never understood wind.
You know, I know
windmills very much.
I have studied it
better than anybody
else. It’s very expensive.
They are made in China
and Germany mostly.
—Very few made here, almost none,
but they are manufactured, tremendous
—if you are into this—
tremendous fumes. Gases are
spewing into the atmosphere. You know
we have a world
So the world
is tiny
compared to the universe.
So tremendous, tremendous
amount of fumes and everything.
You talk about
the carbon footprint
— fumes are spewing into the air.
Right? Spewing.
Whether it’s in China,
Germany, it’s going into the air.
It’s our air
their air
everything — right?
A windmill will kill many bald eagles.
After a certain number
they make you turn the windmill off.
That is true.
—By the way
they make you turn it off.
And yet, if you killed one
they put you in jail.
That is OK.
You want to see a bird graveyard?
You just go.
Take a look.
A bird graveyard.
Go under a windmill someday,
you’ll see
more birds
than you’ve ever seen
in your life."

What the poet is trying to say is that if you take the loose twetchel sections of a, say, a fendered smoig, and gwelb them tightly to the phobostarber on a German or Chinese windmill, you get a clemotic reaction, which can waft and extend for a time and a half.
And nobody wants that.
I just wanted to clarify that.
I hope, fervently, the poet will have more time for poetic explorations after November, other matters ceasing to occupy his time.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? www.garyeandrews.com

I think you should avoid analogies, using flowering words--stay with music!

We made our own windmills in the smokies to pump water from a spring.

Back then, we didn't use poetry with political overtones! If you hate Trump, just keep it simple: SAY YOU DO!

Tex Ritter majored in political science. He never let politics interfere with his acting or music!

Back in the fifties I was in a windmill in Holland--it was built by those people locally, many years before! The countryside was covered with them pumping.

I'd rather listen to mountain music, while sippin' SHINE!

Mackie, I believe you have misidentified the author of this great work. Unless I am mistaken, Kevin didn't write it and is not trying to steal credit from the actual author. There are no deceiving political overtones in these words.

I found this poem particularly moving as windmills played a part in my formative years. I helped to rescue one from a field in France many years ago, where it had fallen into disrepair, and move it to a park in Lille where it now forms the basis of a living museum. As a result, I know the technical terms for windmill parts in French but not in English. The "arbre-moteur," for example, can be loosely translated as "big-assed beam that turns the sails." I find the French term more poetic.

I also have some insight into the poet's hatred of windmills. When he built his golf resort on top of an area of scientific interest in north-east Scotland, winning approval with the promise of thousands of jobs, he got very hot under the collar when a wind farm was proposed offshore, in his opinion spoiling the view. He tried to bully the local authorities and even the Scottish government into blocking the wind farm with a torrent of personal insults and threats. He was unsuccessful. A schematic representation linking that loss and his current aversion to windmills consists of a single arrow.

As for the thousands of jobs that were promised, well...I think you can guess.

I edited my post-- TO A SOFT JAB, like Gary's reaction above! I don't know who wrote the poem, but Kevin selected it for some reason--I can only guess!

Canton is a rocks throw from Asheville, NC--I was into poetry in my younger days. at the Canton paper--didn't know there was a Poetry Review in Ashville.

I am an Independent, and have voted for both Parties--my pocket book, is usually calling my vote. WITH SO MUCH WIND IN WASHINGTON THESE DAYS, IT'S LIKE A WINDMILL--MAYBE A SPEECH WRITER SHOULD GET CREDIT for a lot of the B . S.

Canton is in the middle of some beautiful country - could make anyone a poet smile

My point is that, unless I'm totally wrong. the "poem" is just Trump's words verbatim, arranged on the page to look like a poem. It's making fun both of the President's word soup and what passes for poetry these days - put banal prose on the page and break up
the sentences or incoherent
phrases unnaturally and
