Hello, all. Markus here....
Here's the question of the hour; has anyone worked, or is familiar, with Sentric Music Publishing? They are based in the U.K. A friend/co-writer recently informed me of them. Something about hearing three or four of our tunes; they liked them and maybe have some interest in them. He basically wants to deal with them, since he is not a performer but a writer/lyricist, unlike myself. From what I recall, he wants them to do the whole publishing thing (not sure if it's for publishing administration or full publishing deal) so he can just be the author, which I guess is fine. On my end, I'm the co-writer and co-publisher on the songs, so here's the thing; I know basically zero about them. And I'm not sure how they reached out to him, maybe via Reverbnation. He probably knows as much about them as I do. I'm not one to just jump into things blindly; I sent an email to them today, wanting some basic info on them. Please advise and thank you.
Markus

Hey Markus, it reads much like a music library where they license music for film and tv. The 80/20 split in favor of the writer/ performer is very good. They claim to have over 100,000 songwriters and catalogue owners. Not sure if they can do justice to that many. But with the rolling 28 day contract, doesn’t sound like much of a risk. Here's a review: https://www.topconsumerreviews.com/music-publishing/review/sentric-music.phpBest, John

Hi Markus, I just sent them some questions via email, and asked one of my UK based co-writers to look into them and let me know what he thinks. We will see.

Hi Again, What it looks like they are, is a publishing admin. service. I did get a reply, and what they do is make sure you get your money from any plays or sync deal. They don't actively push them for you, and the extra 30% you get is from publishing. You are making them a co-publisher.

This is the part that makes me think their main function is music library type licensing: "Sync, exposure, and live performance. Sentric helps artists apply to have their music played on TV shows, video games, and advertisements. Royalty collection and payment. Use Sentric's sync, broadcast, and live opportunities to further your music'Yes, it looks like they do artist promotion as well. Good luck to your friend! Best, John

Thank you for reaching out, Yes we do actively pursue sync for yourself on a non-exclusive basis. We do not radio plug or place your work onto streaming services. For the latter, you will need to work alongside a distributor

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
