https://soundcloud.com/wabash-cannibal/i-should-be-so-luckyI Should Be So Lucky By Robert George/ Tom Bohn c 2005Popped the hood of his red Trans Am With torn overalls and greasy hands I poured in half a quart of Pennzoil That guy brings it in every month Tips me a fifty to tune it up Fill the tires, check the wires and the coil I pictured that old used Ford that I just bought Slammed the hood of his Trans Am and thought I should be so lucky to live like that Man, if there's a good life That's where it's at He's got it made in the shade Sometime's I think if I could trade I'd wish that were me 'Cause I should be I should be so lucky He picked his car up right at five Was takin' some redhead for a drive Her name was on the tip of his tongue I thought of the crazy things I did Before my marriage and my two kids And I smiled cause I was wild when I was young He said there's a party tonight, we're gonna raise some hell I just took his fifty and I said to myself I should be so lucky to live like that Man, if there's a good life that's where it's at He's got it made in the shade Sometimes I think if I could trade I'd wish that were me 'Cause I should be I should be so lucky He said come on, get in, go with us I said sorry not tonight Suppers on the stove and it's waitin' And I'm headin' home to my wife Then with a hint of regret He looked up and said I should be so lucky to live like that Man, if there's a good life that's where it's at You've got it made in the shade Sometime's I think if I could trade I'd wish that were me 'Cause I should I should be so lucky

Hey Couch.
Wonderful story and lyrics to support. I like how the small details support a great basic story that's perfect for modern country music--many can relate to this type of song or just "get it!" Music/melody production/performance all done very well. No nits, just enjoyed the song.

Enjoyed my listen... and yeah, what Eddie said! Really enjoyable song... and the "turn-around" message worked well. One of your recent bests. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Robert,
Good poppy song with a catchy hook. I love the contrast in the end as the one who is supposed to be so lucky isn't really so lucky, & the one who thought he wasn't lucky, really is...
I need some uptempo songs like this...

Great lyric, melody, vocals, production. It feels like a hit. Who is that singing? Is it Tom Bohn, who's mentioned in the writing credits?
Lyrically, you know what's coming, of course, but the fact that the twist in the tail is visible from about the shoulder blades does the song no harm at all in my opinion. If anything, it allows the listener to bask longer in the feelgood glow of what he knows is coming.

thanks folks. and that is Tom Bohn singing and I think he played on the demo as well. He gets all the credit. I had nothing to do with the demo or its arrangement, that was all Tom. I had a little more disposable income back then. All I did was write a check and smile when I heard how it turned out.
