Had a depression event Saturday and Sunday this emerged. https://www.soundclick.com/bands3/songInfoV4.cfm?bandID=589298&songID=13886780Washed Away [Each Time It Rains] [2019-06-09] [A] I'm done talking 'cause no one listens to what I have to say. I'm done thinking 'cause the thoughts I have never go away. I'm done trying 'cause my efforts seem to be in vain. I'm done dreaming because dreams gets washed away each time it rains. [A] I'm done watching 'cause only watching means standing on the side. I'm done caring because caring eats at my heart from deep inside. I'm done wishing because wishing only means things stay the same. I'm done dreaming because dreams gets washed away each time it rains. [B] Short Break [A] I'm done living because living means I'll live with sorrow and pain. I'm done crying because crying only means I'll cry again. I'm done fighting because I'm losing and if losing why play the game? I'm done dreaming because dreaming seems to me to be in vain. Hi Doug,
I can totally relate. I never used to get depressed but with middle age, I find my thoughts coinciding with many lines from Cheyesky's "Network," such as "All of a sudden it’s closer to the end than to the beginning, and death is suddenly a perceptible thing to me, with definable features."
Your song reminds me a little of Randy Newman's "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" but your lyric is straightforward whereas his is not, relying on sarcasm for his hook "human kindness is overflowing/and I think it's going to rain today.".
It's a good song that could use a little work to make tighter. The introduction seems to be in a distant key, so the beginning is a little rocky, but otherwise, I liked this.
Be well,
Mike

Very clear revelation of a private and personal emotions state. The raw honesty of it is intriguing and beautiful in a bittersweet way.

Good one Doug,Depression takes all forms. There's so many myths surrounding Depression,if you have it you'll know that is true. For one people who suffer from it aren't constantly down and suicidal, and telling someone with the disease to "pull yourself together" isn't a good plan. Not a good theme to deal with but you turned it into a sensitive song. Regards John

Doug,
The lyrics are compelling, and the vocal is sincere and engaging. Some nice, subtle chord changes here that keeps the listener engaged. Sometimes, sadly, we write our best stuff when we are in that dark place . . . been there. The good thing is that it always gets better—the writing is cathartic and helps us get there. Really enjoyed this one, Doug. Nice work.
All the best,
Deej

Worth working on Douglas. As Mike says the start needs looking at again where your vocal kicks in. Another sugg I offer is to break the "going down" lyric and maybe try to introduce a reason why he's so depressed with a short bridge on the lines of something like: "And if I stop all these things what will I have? Will I find what I'm looking for? Will you come back?
Just an idea.

Hello Douglas,
Your lyrics hit home with me. Very true. Depression can and will wash your dreams away.
Music is a great way to express your feelings and emotions and you did a wonderful job, vocals and melody.

Pure heartbreak crafted into a melody and lyrics that move any soul that has lived this story. I have always enjoyed your tone and your thoughts in song. It's been awhile since i have been around here, but like a fine aged wine your work has an even greater clarity and smoothness and intoxicating moods as one listens to what your really trying to say in spite of any imperfections we all deal with. Even the best wine/whine when it comes to songs has a bit of sediment as well as sweet sentiment when you are done enjoying it from top to bottom. ~Matt

Life will take you to these spots I can relate.
I would rename it “I’m Done”.....That is the theme not washed away. I mean you are done right? Yeah if I ever wanted you to sing this tune for me I would tell you play me that song “I’m Done”..
Keep moving bro

Doug:
Depression takes so many forms and each of us can experience it personally... or through those we love or have become friends or acquaintances. I applaud your work and sincere vocal. Vic always says precisely what is on his mind, without attempting to be snide or snarky... and I agree with him. You are not fully finished with this song (IMHO) but it is so very close. Best of luck with it and best wishes for success and happiness in all you do.
----Dave
