No wonder why Ray is so insistent on CDs not being dead. He started this thread and wants it to live on right Ray?

Now I get it.

Upon the recommendation of a friend who is a couple of decades younger, my music listening is all youtube now. It works really well. Works at the gym on my phone. My phone plugs it into the truck. So far I've been able to find any song that I can think of and load it into my playlists. I can arrange the song order any way that I like.

My buddy gives em 10 bucks a month to eliminate the commercials. The commercials dont bother me that much and you can opt out after 5 seconds on most.

Eh,
No FD. I am not trying to save the CD. People must have bought Millions of CD'S in the last 30 years. I get at least 5 Catalogs on a regular basis from CD sources. I still buy CD'S from time to time. Uh, bye the way, people have also bought millions of Vinyl records over the last 60 or 70 years. And they may still play them from time to time! Sometime this year I am buying at least one CD set. And further more! If you are a songwriter you want somebody to cut some of your songs and put out a CD.

Vinyl will hang around because there is collectors value. If you have early Beatles or Rolling Stones records, or rare records in prestine condition, they are worth a lot more than what they were purchased for. And there are audiophilles who still prefer the sound of vinyl. Vinyl is also fun to use, they look cool, and vinyl players with vinyl records can also be used as an instrument.

The poor old cd no appeal. But I understand now Ray,....I understand.

I've got Cougars In America in the stereo! Cool solo band that recently changed to a duo, renamed Animals in Motion. The guitarist/vocalist/etc. plays while his partner paints really neat images of the songs on stage. Saw them randomly at a festival we were playing this summer - walked up and thought, "Oh cool they are playing Cougars in America over the speakers" - when it turned out to be the band live! Neat to recognize them.

What else is there? Mp3 is usually crap quality sound.
You can hold a cd in your hand, call it yours and read the notes on the back. Sometimes the graphics are great too.

Mp3s/downloads are ok for people who's hearing is shot to hell but it's like buying carrots in a can.

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

Sure as bears crap in the woods, cds will be illegal by 2020

All part of Trump wanting to drain the swamp. He says alot of dems are still using cd's and he feels it's not smart and bad for the economy

If I come across the article again, ill post it.

You should start thinking about a switch

I wonder if I should change the title from what is in your CD player to something like "what music are you listening to right now?"

Well,
Um, I suggest going back to the Cylinder no? Golly I just received another Catalog from a CD source. So, you could change the title to WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO ON CD OR OTHER DEVICE. I guess it's time to break out my 8-Tracks. Did'ja know before cassettes there were 4-Track cassette players for automobiles. I know, I installed them at one time. Keep on trucking!

There, I just changed a single word and it works for everything and so people search for music will find it much easier in searches. We can always change to something else later if needed.

By the way, aside from JPF members music which I listen to every single day, I also listened to:

Tanita Tikarim's Ancient Heart Album (one I hadn't heard in a decade but one of the songs we used to play live with a beautiful voiced female singer in one of my bands a song call Valentine Heart which we saw her perform on David Letterman back in the day when he was still funny and not just a political hack & Aimee Mann's Whatever Album which is my all time favorite singer songwriter pop album so I pop it in now and then to reset and clear my palate before switching to a new genre of music from the awards.

Aw, Humm, Yes!
This morning I am listening to the Soundtrack from THE YELLOW ROLLS ROYCE. It is from the Movie of the same name. As far as I know they never released it on CD so I made my own a few years ago from an LP Record. Great Music.

Humm, Aw, Well,
In some commercial on the T.V. they have been playing an Excerpt of HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. So I looked thru my Christmas CD's to see if I have the song. Yep I have the song! It is on A CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT CD BY The Carpenters. Wow Karen Carpenter really sounds good. If you don't have the CD, sorry FD you may be able to find it on the Net.

Karen Carpenter was one of the most unique vocalists of our time. I don't have the CD but I would not be without my CD recording and playing gear. I refuse to become reliant on all those playlist gizmos and methods. This is not a rant against those who do... just the quirkiness of an old man who refuses to use a cell phone except for emergency communications when "on the road."

Music (no matter what you enjoy) is the glue that binds us here at JPF. May the force (and Brian) be with you all!

Saw most of it on PBS. What great about Little Steven is he dont give a f... he does what he wants to do. Soul, rock, blues, funk, who wants to hear a 5 piece horn section these days? He does it anyway.

Been listening to these guys the last few years. I got to see them at a small theatre in Clearwater, FL a few years back. Probably the best funk party band around right now … Here Come The Mummies. They seemed to have grabbed a spot perpetually in my cd player for two years now …
