Hi, all,

So Iím not sure what to make of this oneóa little different for meóbut here it is for what itís worth. Nothing elaborate with the lyrics, simple American standard type take, and my usual amateur effort on the production. BUT smile , my first (not entirely pathetic) effort on adding a guitar solo.

Anyway, hope itís worth the three minutes you spend listening to it.

I'm All Right Now

I was lost without youó
tempest-tossed into an ocean
once so bright blue.
In the storm I was sure I would drown,
but Iím all right now.

I was caught in a bad place;
so distraught, I never thought
youíd come back one day.
My every heartbeat was a lonely sound,
but Iím all right now;

What could I do when every thought of you
just broke me up and laid me down low.
How could I see that youíd return to me,
and now that youíre here, Iím never letting you go.

I was lost without youó
at what cost, I donít think
I ever quite knew.
All in ruins, everything, every how,
but Iím all right now.

What could I do, Iím so in love with you,
It broke me up and laid me down low.
I never could see how youíd return to me,
but now that youíre here, Iím never letting you go.

I was lost without youó
at what cost, I donít think
I ever quite knew.
But damn that all because youíre here somehow,
so Iím all right now.
Yeah, Iím all right now.

This is excellent. A terrific write - solid throughout. You say "Nothing elaborate with the lyrics..." - I would disagree. The timing of the rhymes is exquisite. The story told is interesting and complete. Nice ending...

Nice vocal (powerful). Nice accompaniment.

Hearing this made me go listen to several of your other songs - a "seldom occurrence" for me... I was intrigued. All good stuff... enjoyed it.

What do we like?

- the lyric (as described by floyd)
- the melody
- the soulful vocal
- the accompaniment
- the happy ending

Guess that about covers it!

Well done and a most enjoyable listen(s)

I think 9ne got it right. I was listening to this (and enjoying it) thinking it was beatlesque and wondering which song it was reminding me of, and there it was in the reply.
I could happily listen to songs like this all day.

Hi again, DJ:

Calvin is always right. Then, when "double-downed" by J&B and Floyd... this is clearly commercial material. Your vocal style is top notch and the song may remind us of other, similar works... but clearly stands on it's own merits. Really nice work. Enjoyed my listen. ----Dave

Hey Deej,

I think your vocal was really good...powerful. I loved your chord progressions. I don't know if this is what you were going for but it kinda reminds me of a song I would have heard in the 60's (I think it's just the feel of it, can't place my finger on why). It's not a bad thing. I really liked this one.

What a wonderful little love song, Deej! It has that innocent, 1950s Broadway musical feel. Don't know what you were going for but that's where it took me. Well done.

Really Nice Dj.

Enjoyed the sync between the timing of the guitar and the vocal melody. Little reminiscent of "Time In A Bottle."
Enjoyed the movement in the vocal melody and the earnest sound in your voice.
Could be on a sound-track to a movie or something.

Really works.

To all: Thanks so much for given this one a listen and for the supportive feedback. As I said, I wasnít sure about this oneómainly, I worried the lyric and melody would come off too simple or genericóso its encouraging to see I may have something to work with here.

Floyd: Youíre a glutton for punishment daring a listen to my other tunes :), but I appreciate it and hope they were worth your time.

Janice & Bud: Iím trying to think if youíve left anything out, but, yeah, I think youíve covered it. smirk Very kind comments, and glad everything worked for you.

9ne and RainyDay Man: I worry that with a simple melody like this it might be reminiscent of some other tune. That it has a Beatles type sound never struck me, until I read your comments and listened again. I'm hoping this isnít too familiar, or worse, derivative of someone else's tune, and is sufficiently unique and original. If it isnít, then I need to rework or, more likely, sink this one.

Germain and Ricki: Iíd like to say I was shooting for a 60ís sound or a Broadway feel, but that would be attributing to much forethought to this and pretty much everything else I write. That said, I wonder what a Tony Bennet-like jazz version of this song might sound likeódonít know why, I just do.

Dave and Martin: Your continued support on this and other tunes Iíve posted is so much appreciated.

Calvin: I appreciate the encouragement. I can be my harshest critic (as Iím sure we all are of our own stuff)óIíll try to cut myself some slack in the future.

Alan: Thanks for stopping in and giving this a listen. Glad you enjoyed it.

Travis: Youíre not the first to describe my vocals as ďunusual,Ē (I'm pretty sure the first was me) and you wonít be the last. Now, whether thatís a good thing, well . . . . smile

The best to you all,
