by BanzaiWag Marc Vernon and Robert Malin Home Studio, Oakdale, Ca. Okay...country music is not our 'forte'...although my little brother really loves the stuff! This song was definitely the most difficult thing we have attempted. Trying to make good country music, without a clue what makes it 'go'! Please don't hesitate to tell us what needs fixin'...I tend to write more difficult pieces than I can actually play. My brother hates that...I've been doing this awhile. He's kinda just starting out. We struggled with the drums, the guitars, the fiddle, the solo, and the vocals. Everything else went smooth...LOL...But it was definitely a case of "we've absolutely GOT to release this" or go insane!! And we may go there, anyway....! malin Trail In The Rain I'm ridin' trail in the rain Thinkin' 'bout how stupid I have been again He didn't really have to die... Took the missile in the eye... Young and drunk and stupid full of pain... I'm riding trail in the rain On the run can't stop to heal a searing pain Gone is she I don't know why..., Didn't get to say goodbye... Young and drunk and stupid full of pain... Anybody in my boots...a hundred towns 'n still no roots Leather, metal, horses and a desperado... Any challenge goes unmet....I don't know...ain't happened yet... When it does...I'll...just...let...go... I'm ridin' trail in the rain All I gots a soggy fire and foggy brain Settle up and settle down... Can I find this phantom town...and Special woman, rare, and not too tame. (Solo) ................................................................ Anybody in my boots?...a hundred towns 'n still no roots Leather, metal, horses and a desperado... Any challenge goes unmet... I don't know...ain't happened yet... When it does...I'll...just let go.... I'm ridin' trail in the rain Thinkin' 'bout how stupid I have been again. He didn't really have to die... Took the missile in the eye... Young and drunk and stupid ... https://www.reverbnation.com/banzaiwag/song/29354448-trail

Hey, Steve....
Thanks so much! Thought you might like it. The fiddle was a challenge, being it was a "synth" violin. The solo was a big challenge, and neither one of us really know why. HaHa! I wrote it, then couldn't play it? Yah...pretty much...You are an inspiration to me because you are not afraid to tackle difficult subject matter. Thanks...Ciao...

I enjoyed the melody and lyrics, malin.
There is something annoying to me going on in the background. Like an over reverbed guitar or some distortion. I can't hear the fiddle but that could be my "old ears".

Hey, Vic...
Thanks...there is a lot of annoying stuff going on in that song. It's going to take plenty more tries to get country right...and we will get there...

Malin, I don't write country so take this with all the authority I don't have...this isn't country. The instrumentation is kind of muddy and lyrically, you're not really storytelling, which is a big part of what country is. I'm not saying the song is without merit...it just doesn't sound like country to me. You'd be better off stripping it way down, going acoustic and calling it Americana. Just my 2 cents worth.
