Moderate tempo, folk rock
Bump in the Road copyright 2017 OpenMikeMusic
Driving alone with this hard and heavy load, my radio crackles again. I stumble on a song and begin to sing along, letting pictures of you fill my head.
With a tear in my eye, I'm still wonderin' why.... why I can't let you go.
But as the song wax and wanes your memory fades, the pain just a bump in the road.
(Guitar Break)
I wipe away the tears, I guess I held onto for years and turn on some rock n roll. I'm suddenly a star, my steering wheel's an air-guitar, soloing out of control.
A thousand flames in sight are just distant city lights taking me further from home. and only dreams remain, as the music starts to fade, the pain but a bump in the road.
(Guitar solo)
(Half time)
I'm in a motorcade, doin' 25 in a slow parade of people here to send you on your way. I'm 50 cars behind, with a bowl of weed, a bottle of wine, playing every song you loved to play.
Your last words to me, as you tried so hard to breathe, burn like fire in my soul.
"Ill see you soon my friend, cause the party never ends and death is but a bump in the road."
(Outro)

Subject appears to be having a tug-of-war between old memories and having a party. In the end he appears to realize that it's a brand new day and is actually pretty pleased.

lol....I can see where one could surmise that. Actually the point is, we lose loves, dreams and yet hold onto our hope (or prayers) for immortality. Whether divine or legacy. Where even death is but a minor inconvenience.
Thanks for the look.

I guess the other certainty, taxes, can also be dismissed as a minor inconvenience as well. But I have added what seems to be the third certainty, especially around any large metro region, and that is road construction.
