Floyd brought my lyric to life on this sad one. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13500879Heaven Knows broken strings and a steady rain, has got me down can't play a thing can't even sing, can't find the sound 3 o'clock in the morning the blues come with no warning and it looks like they're gonna, hang around empty glass a seedy stash,on the table out of gas can't leave so fast, where's my Mable She could lift me up Fill my empty loving cup I'd would gladly let her,if i was able tomorrow is so far away the past won't let me go everything's in disarray Ouija tells me so Can't catch a break,Heaven knows empty dark and this lonely heart,go together lost the spark to light the part, that burns forever solitude and sorrow no dream left to steal or borrow some memories make sad reflectors [chorus]

Vivid glimpse of nastalgia in a tasty ballad.
Nice vocals and I loved the bass line. Overall, the instrumentals are quite nice. The production is pretty sweet, too. Oh, I liked the line "empty glass, a seedy stash on the table" - unique and poignant.
The only thing that could use improvement is the musical punctuation right before the last line in the chorus "Can't catch a break, Heaven knows" - the timing seems a bit odd; the second change in that set of four chords/notes feels late to me.
Overall, stellar tune and solid performance/production.
Peace, TC

I enjoyed this. When I read the rhymes, table and mabel thought it was a bit corny, but when it was sung, almost didn't even notice it.
Always better to hear it than read it I think.
Well done.

Hi guys,
Very pretty, very sad..
Great to hear Floyd's beautiful pipes.
Careful with that Quija, Michael!

Very nice fellas. Particularly liked the base line. It was a pleasing melody unto itself.

Merry Christmas, Mike and Floyd:
Not your typical "Blues Number" but so very special. This one takes me to a front row seat in a cozy, intimate little venue somewhere near Vanderbilt in Nashville... in my vivid imagination.
Well written and well performed, my friends. Loved it!
Floyd, we've sure been missing your presence and that couple of friends you often collab with here. Don't be strangers, you and your collective talent are sorely missed.

Hey Mike/Floyd, That is just a stunning piece of work. Really subtle in both terms of lyrics and musical arrangement, and really good on the ear. Fella's, I'd really finish this one, cos' there's not many who can do beauty and subtlety together. cheers, niteshift PS - Floyd, love the timing on the transitions. Magic !

A beautiful portrait of depression. I've felt this way a few times at 3am, maybe 4am, which I call "the dreaded 4." Mable has to be a generic term for his woman to avoid comments about forced rhymes.

Excellently written lyric, Mike. Is the tune yours or did Floyd compose the melody? Both are quite lovely together. You two do well together on your collabs.
