Got an email from these guys today: https://www.orfium.com/welcome/?utm...tm_source=YMLP&utm_term=Orfium#intro Never heard of them. Though I've been finding more & more of my music being used on Youtube. Could this be a way to be compensated for lost revenue on Youtube? Or maybe additional revenue? Don't know... John

Might be worth looking into if you have music on YouTube. I have very little on YT.

Though I've already been paid upfront through Getty Images. But no royalties for Youtube plays. John

Hmmm... might be interesting to hear from someone who has used them.. hopefull the post title will draw someone in with experience. For a third party company to be able to find unpaid royalties due (which I gather from your post is what they are offering, I haven't visited their site yet) it means the money is already yours and due you, so giving some additional amount of that likely small amount of money just to get what is coming to you sucks. Isn't there a way for you to get it yourself?

Hi John:
Thanks for sharing this with us. I took a peek at the site via the link and saw something that could be a problem. One of the features offered involved a "creative commons" license. That raises warning flags with me. Tread carefully and with great caution.
Lots of big name net organizations involved in music are getting some pretty bad press from ASCAP's weekday net-letter and I've never even heard of this outfit. Let's hope they are "legit" and become a highly respected music distribution site... but I won't be holding my breath.
Regards, as always.... ----Dave

Isn't there a way for you to get it yourself? Hey Brian, For videos I’m receiving ASCAP royalties for Amazon, Hulu, Apple Subscription, Rhapsody, Slacker, and Spotify. I’m also receiving upfront royalties for Music Cult and miscellaneous external sales and/or streams. But I don’t see any earnings for Youtube other than upfront payments from Getty Images and other publishers. I’m just interested in how Youtube is going to figure in with the streaming issue. More so than making money. This video has had over 5,000 views: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?...FE89442BAD38FED555B7FE89&FORM=VRDGAR and there are several others on youtube. Best, John

At least I'm listed for music credits. If it wasn't for that, I never would have known about this youtube video. It wouldn't have come up with a google search. The 2016 Rip Curl Cup runs from Aug 1 - 31. Recieved this from ASCAP: "All YouTube performances must meet a certain threshold of plays (around 794k/quarter) to be monitored on a census basis. If the song reaches that threshold, royalties will be distributed"

It should accrue until some number is reached worth cutting a check. 20 or 25 bucks seems reasonable.

Ha Ha, Brian:
Gold plated urinals, indeed! ASCAP is famous for keeping the "chump change!" It would be nice if they would actually look out for the little guys on the outskirts of their "camp."
Not gonna happen.
Hope you are doing well and getting ready for "Old Saint Nick!"
All the best, ----Dave

They added Netflix this year (extra revenue for me) and their International royalty base has expanded. I’m receiving royalties from a couple dozen countries. All and all I feel they’re doing a decent job collecting and distributing royalties (from my perspective). That said, I have no way of knowing if any of their revenue is being redirected unfairly. I’m keeping an optimistic frame of mind… John

Sometimes I do Brian (though on a PC). Especially if I have more than a one-liner to type. John
