This is a super collaboration, T & V!
Proof positive that Bluegrass has Gaelic Roots. The title is also a pretty good hook. Nice work, guys. ----Dave

Hi Mike. Thanks for listening. It's called a "Bodhran"(prounounced Bow-rahn). Used widely in Irish folk music.

Fellas,
I really like the Bodhran percussion--different and gives the music an accentuated up-tempo revelry mood! I think we've seen more unique dynamics with percussion used in current popular music the last few years as well, which is a good thing IMO. What goes around comes back around eventually anyway.
This is a fun song with "catchy" lyrics too!

Great feel to this one, Vic and Travis and fun lyrics. I can hear people singing along at a live show in the local bar/pub. but the devil's in the juke box and his ants are in my pants I did not see that coming. Ricki

I rather like the bodhran. It's reminiscent of work boots dancing, which puts it right at home in this song.

Hey Guys, Well ! That just put me mentally in a Brit pub, in any century, where the Guinness is flowing, and the crowd is going nuts. Even granny is lifting up the skirt and having a right shin dig. That's a really frenetic and fun song. And yes, Mike et al,from the South, bluegrass did come from it's Celtic roots. cheers, niteshift PS - maybe a double bass note here and there just to ground it ?

Hi Kurt. We're glad you liked it. Back in the old days here the poor would wear clogs and so would do the clog dance. That must have made some clatter.

Like the feel of this. A toe tapper for sure. The only thing I would change is dropping "ON THE AIR" to "DANCING ON AIR" a very little thing indeed.

That devil is pretty lively. I liked the percussive sound of the bodhran. I thought I was hearing some claps in there? I could see this going over very nicely at a jam too. Fun tune!

Hope you can take a listen to this collab. from Travis and I. Based on the Celtic/Gaelic folk style. Thanks in anticipation. Vic https://soundcloud.com/vic-arnold/theres-a-devil-in-the-juke-box http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13484708The Devil in the Jukebox. ©2016 John Vaughan & Vic Arnold V I've been digging ditches all day with me old spade but I still get the urge to dance whenever I've been paid I'm as drunk as a ship's cat but still up on me feet 'Cos these piggies won't stop dancing when the devil plucks the beat -maybe consider not giving away the hook name devil here...just say when I hear the pluck of that beat..then use devil only in the chorus just a few suggestions on lyrics, keep or sweep as they say-- I just feel the lyric might work better time wise and telling the story. I also feel if you say I'll get instead of I'm as drunk, makes it seem like he only gets drunk due to the music, therefore making it devilish. maybe something such as.. I can dig ditches all day with me old spade but I'll still get the urge to dance, on the day I get paid I'll get drunk as a ship's cat, but still be on me feet cos my piggies can't stop dancing, when the devil plucks his beat...
Ch. So there's a devil in the jukebox and another coin in the slot. He likes to have a good time We'll be dancing 'til we drop We're dancing on the tables, dancing up the stairs Old devil in the jukebox got us dancing on the air V Ah! the guiness flows like treacle, glues the ladies to their chairs but my old legs are whirling and I'll catch them unawares They all think I'm crazy when I ask them for a dance but the devil's in the juke box and his ants are in my pants- not sure about HIS ants, the metaphor doesn't work because the devil isn't known to have ants, maybe just say fire in my pant??? that would make you jump, right?? Ch. Inst. Br. The devil has the best songs, he plays the best banjo He bows the wildest fiddle with the hottest piano Ch. Repeat Ch. I enjoyed this very much Vic and Travis. One thought I had is why does he figure its the devil making him dance? I feel he might need to seem a bit more naughty for the devil to be tempting him and for this to be devilish...maybe such as he should head home but finds himself there instead..maybe he flirts with the girls.. I may be reading too much into the lyrics, I am that way, I write a lyric to death..and think of all different scenes and ask myself so many questions ...lol Kim

Hi Kim. Glad you liked it. Re the lyrics: It was never meant to be a song with any deep meaning. It's all about the beat, fun and mostly metaphor.
I suppose we could change the first verse, last line to something like: 'Cos these piggies won't stop dancing when the "Dickens" plucks the beat .... or 'Cos these piggies won't stop dancing when I hear that "plucking beat".
