OK back to writing songs in English again. I have two versions of this song, "Smell Her Magic Potion". This version is Sweet Butterfly. The other is called Stinging Butterfly (which I may post later). Feedback appreciated. Doug http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13085202Lyrics on the site and below: Smell Her Magic Potion (Sweet Butterfly Version) Doug Buche -2015 Intro and Chorus: She wiggles and she wags it and she backs it on up. Moves like a wave in the ocean with a circular motion. Gets in your eyes and your nose. You can smell her magic potion. But we can talk about anything. She makes me laugh. She makes my heart sing. 1st Verse: When I pick her up at seven she’ll be dressed to the nines. Later on when I unwrap her I will see her sweet surprise. With each layer I go deeper till the sun starts to rise I can see my reflection in the mirror of her eyes. Chorus: She wiggles and she wags it and she backs it on up. Moves like a wave in the ocean with a circular motion. Gets in your eyes and your nose. You can smell her magic potion. But we can talk about anything. She makes me laugh. She makes my heart sing. 2nd Verse: Her butterfly wings are so pretty to see. When I look even closer. see an eye watching me. I feel a dizzy vibration from her uneven flight. She eats up the sunshine, makes me hungry for night. Bridge: She never wants to give me much information. She feeds me just a little bit at at a time with a spoon. Whenever I ask her about our future. She only says she wants to ride my rocket to the moon. Repeat Chorus with this ending: She wiggles and she wags it and she backs it on up. Moves like a wave in the ocean with a circular motion. She rubs it on me . . . I can feel it working, her magic potion!

Have you been eating those mushrooms again, Doug?
A very interesting lyric though.

No mushrooms . . . possibly some exotic pollens from the butterfly's wings!

I am actually glad to see that you are sticking to your musical path that you have chosen for yourself. Yes, it is not my normal listening choice -- but there are many, many more people that listen to this type stuff than what I like (ha, ha!).
Now this one has a bit of reggae feel to it. Pretty cool. I do think you are going to have to upgrade your musical samples a bit if you want to pull this off in a super convincing way. I wish I could tell you what sound libraries to get, but that is out of my realm of knowledge.

Always great to hear your point of view Kevin . . . yes my music is probably somewhat different than most heard on the site . . but then diversity is good . . . yes? Thanks for the feedback about the sampling and if you come up with suggestions later it'd be nice to hear them.
Actually on this song I just only used my Kawaii keyboard, elec. guitar, and Hammerhead Rhythm Station.

Re-mixed and redid some parts.
Should be a little more together.
Probably chose the wrong genre on sound click but did not know exactly what this song would be.

Interesting stuff Doug. You need to get the timing of the piano/synthy instrument playing the melody at the beginning (and throughout the song) in time with the drummy things. Music like that lives for the groove and being out of time just doesn't work.
I think the lyrics are pretty good!

Seems you've taken care of the timing problems and it flows very well and I can appreciate the humor in the lyrics.

Wasn't sure if I fixed all the timing errors, so was good to get your feedback.
As always, thanks for your support.

Very interesting lyric. Not my typical listening genre, but was captivated by the lyric.
Nice work.

Hi Doug,
I think the lyric is great, kind of vintage disco lines like "Moves like a wave in the ocean with a circular motion" --it sounds like you are not yet using a DAW, and so some of your music seems out of sync. The music would really benefit from a bit of quantization. The vocals seem fine, overall. It's the keyboards that need better time keeping. The song itself is a keeper!

Appreciate your feedback.
I have pro-tools but used audacity for this song.
I should really learn how to use pro-tools and to sync up the tracks with it.
That will be my next project.
