Been thinking this has been true for about the last 10 years. Wonder how much tempo and pitch adjustments had to be done to splice this altogether. I think if this came on in a bar, a lot of people would have no idea it was a splice job.

I think country music deserves an advocate. Anyone can tear anything down, if they really want to. That's easy, and what teenagers come up with for mockery.
But, one of the biggest country records of 2014 was Miranda Lambert's "Platinum". While tastes are relative, most skilled songwriters should be able to recognize the quality of songwriting and production on that release.
That's h.a.r.d. to do. Give "Platinum" a whirl and try to outwrite just one of those songs. I dare you!

TRUCKS & DRUNKS....
There is Group Think in Nashville and NEVER really break much new ground as there is too much to lose.
They have incredibly talented Musicians and Songwriters stuck in these little rooms and put in little boxes and told to write another hit....don't get too outside the box as OUR FANS are Morons and only want more of the same....? Group think is dangerous wherever you find it.
BUT....if you are looking for creativity DON'T look to Nashville to find it.
I watch with horror at video after video of nothing but Trucks, Parties and Drunks over and over and over again. Wonder where M.A D D is when you need them. Who is the designated driver to drive all those Partying Drunks home.
AND the Pepto Moment for me was DRUNK ON A PLANE
What's next Drunk at the Funeral or Drunk on the Space Station or just drunk on the mountain. I thought I'd throw up when I saw DAY DRINKING BY Little Big Town.
The Music is Catchy and the Girls are cute but GEE WIZZ write some good songs people.
They are SO much better than this.

No doubt the pickings in Music City are getting pretty slim. Listening to some Hank Thompson now.

Hey John on that Country Horror Song (and Iggy thanks for the idea) you just created a new genre!! only I don't think zombies drive??? I wonder if country fans are zombie fans as well...how's this for starters... "Zombie Girl" (country/novelty)(can picture a funny video ) (c)2015 Lynn Orloff (needs a good melody )
It was late one nite Took a left and then a right Windows up still can’t explain the chilly air Somethin’ made me check my rearview And there I saw in clear view A zombie with blue eyes and long brown hair (blonde?) As I tried to get away Somethin’ made me wanna stay Seems that zombie girl had quite a pull on me I said “honey need a ride” Then she climbed on up inside Didn’t know where all this craziness would lead I got me a zombie Ridin’ shotgun in my truck I kind of like the danger Yeah I like to push my luck She doesn’t talk my ears off like some other gals I know She’s tappin' on my dashboard, seems she likes the radio
Wasn’t much on conversation But she liked the country stations When I tried to turn the dial she freaked out Didn’t want her mad at me So I left on Toby Keith Wasn’t sure I’d introduce her to my crowd I got me a zombie Ridin’ shotgun in my truck I kind of like the danger Yeah I like to push my luck She doesn’t talk my ears off like some other gals I know She’s tappin' on my dashboard, seems she likes the radio
Bridge Not the kind of girl I'm gonna' bring to meet my mama Yeah she's alittle out there, might create alittle drama
Cruisin' with my zombie Lookin' good in cut off jeans I don't know how she does it But she's got a hold on me She doesn’t talk my ears off like some other gals I know Just tappin' on my dashboard, diggin' country radio

Cool lyrics Lynn! Hope one of the country guys or gals pick these up. My country always ends up sounding like jazz. Maybe a Country Jazz song? Best, John

Ben I gave a listen and I didn't hear a "country jazz" sound though they weren't dressed in flannel shirts and overalls and had a more somewhat sophisticated blue grass sound if you will. I might use the term "classy blue grass".

Sorry about that Lynn. I could have used a better example, but "The Tony Rice Unit" is known for their borderline jazz sound. As you can guess, I'm a big fan. I was referring to their individual instrumental solos and how they would go off melody for a jazzy feel. Not complete jazz, but a jazz influence no doubt. The point is that country and jazz does mix. How about this one instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqcRx-ydsBA

As a matter of fact, most of the big name bluegrass bands are sophisticated and perform in suit and tie, something that Bill Monroe (the father of bluegrass) insisted on. Ask Mike Dunbar. He plays for one of the top bands. The hayseed thing went away years ago. Some still use it, but only as a novelty. It's the music, not the appearance.

Much better example and I'm hearing the "countrazz" sound if we can use that genre. Reminded me of a slower version of Boogie-Woogie Bugle Man. Thanks Ben. Enjoy a cookie on me!!

Back on original subject, I know some of the country songs seemed pressed from the same cookie cutter, but I do hear some that stand out and I think we even appreciate them more because they do. For instance this one...very bare bones and beautiful.... no truck, no beer, no bikinis, imagine that!!
