Hey Mike!
I like the pace and the lyrics here. I think you can better develop this melody--it's not bad mind you, but I think you can enhance or pull a better one out here with these nice chords--your close, experiment with taking the melody up and down a bit more here.
This has a little "Latin" feel as well. I think a short chorus would benefit the song as well, again a little experimentation and imagination. Put the song on the shelf for a few days and come back, you might be surprised at what you start hearing in your mind musically. Nice start!
