Hello all, My 28th anniversary is creeping up on me so I figured my wife and I deserved a song. All feedback is greatly appreciated. By the way, I already found out the "28 long years" in the chorus, may need a re-write. As I was half asleep this morning, my wife listened to the tune and all I heard was "28 LONG years, you're friggin' right it's been LONG." I guess there may have been a better way to see we have been together for a long time. All that being said, she enjoyed the song. Updated version. The first verse lyrics and the chorus have been revised because of my poor use of words in the original lyric. I also redid the entire vocal and added a subtle B3 in the Bridge. Tweaked the mix a bit too.Thx for listening. The new version is here:https://soundcloud.com/gocartmoz/the-glory-rideThe Glory RideMusic & Lyrics by David S. Becker © 2014 David S. This is really good, well performed, retro feel .....almost an allman brothers meets brit invasion feel. My first thought was the guitars were a bit hot, but once the vocals came on, everything gelled........nice work.

Great playing and melody, Dave. How about changing "long" to "great" And I wonder about the "load strapped to my back" in V1 also, lol. I'd love to see the title in the chorus. But a great listen, regardless Bill

David,
HA! funny story! Nice job on the song. I thought the same as Bill when I read the lyric (after your wife's comment) - change "long" to "great"...
Love that 3rd verse! it is STRONG!
Enjoyable. You're doing great on the productions, too...

Hey Mac, Calvin, Bill, Floyd and Doug, Thx much for the comments and thx for the suggestions. Bill, while I accept all fault for not realizing how the "long 28" line would be taken, the "load on my back" line was not a reference to my far better half. Thankfully she knew what I meant by that line, though I realize others would not. That is way too funny. I May have to leave as is for the comedic nature of it. Dave

Damn it man,the loving that soloing and vocal harmonies. It's a smoker my friend.
You have to do a video, with old video clips and pictures from the past 28 years, to share with family and friends.
Love the song's energy.

Hi Dave,
I love it -- it has this bohemian feel to it that really captures the love!
I laughed at your wife's comment...how about you let HER decide word should replace "long." I thought the same thing about the load upon your back, but as long as your wife gets it -- LOL!

Hey Mr. Nelson ... Thx much for the comments, they are very much appreciated. I love putting video diaries to songs I have written. Unfortunately, based upon family and friends reactions to previous ones I have made, I may be the only one who loves them.:) My movie making talents are not very accomplished. Hey Lisa ... Thx as well for listening. It is always appreciated. I was a bit on eggshells with the load line but felt confident it would be understood by her. The "28 long years" I didn't even see coming. That whole venus/mars thing I guess. Thx again for chiming in. Dave

What a great tune! I could hear this playing in my car on a hot summer day while driving to the beach with the windows down. It has that type of vibe. By the way, I've been married for 28 years and I don't really have an issue with the verbiage. Then again, I didn't ask my wife what she thought! Really nice write. Thanks for sharing!

That's a "great" tune and, it's been said, just throw "great" in for "long" and go with it. I agree with floyd that the third verse is outstanding -- it's all good but, wow, that last one caps it! Excellent production all the way around.

Hi Dave.
I like this song's melody/production etc. I'm also a little in the mindset of rather, implying 28 years have gone by in a flash--"long" always seems to imply more drudgery. I might also keep the back-up lines toward the ending only--just me, thinking "build."
You have another good write here, some may say make the song more universal and less personal with your story--but that was your purpose, so I get that and have done the same myself.

Thx for the listen Ed. Always appreciated. I am quite aware of the drudgery perception brought on by the use of the word "long." My wife has already made that very clear. That will be changed and rather quickly, if I know what is good for me! I will think about the backup vocals, but I did want to make this a more personal song, rather than a universal one. Always appreciated your thoughts and attention to detail. Dave

Dave, Since other listeners have gently pointed out a couple spots where the wording could have been a little more sensitive and diplomatic, I'll just say it's a great sounding song and performance. It's full of energy. It pops! And I got a kick out of your wife's response to a "a long 28 years." She's right on the ball.

Updated revised version is linked in initial post. I made some much needed lyrical revisions .:) Also redid the vocal as I thought the initial one was pitchy. Not sure this is better but I tried. Also added a subtle B3 in the bridge. Thanks for giving it a spin if you have the time. https://soundcloud.com/gocartmoz/the-glory-ride-revised

Hey Dave, Great lyric changes for promoting marital harmony! I saw an old episode of "Everyone Loves Raymond" last night. Ray and his wife got in a big fight and to prove his love for her, he said he wouldn't go to the Super Bowl game. He'd spend the day with her instead. He got his Super Bowl ticket out, ripped it into shreds, and threw it over the hotel balcony! Two pieces were left on the floor. He picked those up and ate them! This is your version of eating your Super Bowl tickets!! Hey -- I've tried a couple of times to listen, and Sound Cloud says they're experiencing some problems, so the link is not working. Just letting you know! Lisa

Hi Again, Dave,
Marital harmony issues aside, your changes are perfect for the song! The link was working and I listened -- and loved it yet again! It has this really great spirit to it!

yea, it probably aint easy as it seems to write a song for your sweet one after many years, you may choose the wrong words for example LOL. But you choose great ones when you say I'm still - Just a bit tongue tied, and it's a sweet and very 'real' song, no super romantic heroes here, but real lifelong lovers! so bravissimo, truly great one!
