The first of these two are intertwined. Tomorrow I start an ongoing weekend gig at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville at the brand new Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati{big bucks, great exposure}and for the 3rd year in a row, I'll also be playing the Pre-Concert {different stage, same show}for Mr Buffett {sold out, 17,000 seats}at Riverbend Music Center, Cincinnati Oh July 16th. I'll also be doing the honors for Bad Company/Lynyrd Skynyrd July 24th, and Heart/Jason Bonham July 27th. There will probably be more to come. I'm especially stoked about the latter two because I get to play in support of my all-time fave male singer {Paul Rodgers} and {living} female singer Ann Wilson! As in previous years, I don't get to go backstage, but I DO get paid VERY well to play an hour and 15, and get free passes to the shows! www.riverbend.org

Badass, Bob. I have been to the Margaritaville in Key West. Too bad Capt. Tony ain't holding court at his usual spot any more. Send us a video of your performance!

Bob,
You should try to meet and get photos with as many of those artists as possible. (You know how to work the system by now right?). Seeing the impressive list is one thing, but seeing the list and then seeing YOU with THEM (even ONE of THEM) would really add punch to it all and validate you really are appearing at these high profile gigs.
What do ya think?

Buffett's entire career grew out of one song. I don't know if I agree with that Jim. For one thing, what song are you referring to? This is just a guess, but maybe it would be "Margaritaville", or "Cheeseburger In Paradise". He was making records long before those two songs. "Come Monday", "A Pirate Looks At Forty", "God's Own Drunk", just to name a few. He was a crossover artist in the 70's bringing country and rock fans together. He's also a shrewd businessman and is very vigilant of where and how his music is played. I'm not a cult follower myself and I don't begrudge people who are, be it a "Parrothead" or a "Deadhead", but you gotta hand it to him and give him credit for creating all of the good times that these people have in his name. If that "One Song" makes all of these people so happy than that's a good thing and I say more power to him.

Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson are the greatest female fronted band in history. No one I can think of is even close. Ann is also Top 5 all time female vocalists in world history and my personal favorite.
Bruce Hornsby (Fave Male Artist) Aerosmith (Favorite Band) Heart (Favorite Female Fronted Band and Favorite female vocalist of all time by a mile!).
You're going to have a blast Bob... but pull out all the stops to get photos with at least a band member from each band, start now trying and I bet all of them will be happy to do a little meet/photo shoot with one of the support bands if you plan it in advance. And if you hook it up with Heart, you gotta get me in with you. = ) Jimmy Buffet has 2 JPF members and award nominees and multiple winners in his band. Amy Lee, his sax player is a sweetheart. We met up with her in Indy backstage. Peter Mayer, his guitarist, is a 10 time nominee and I think 4 or 5 time winner in our awards. If you can email one or both you'll likely be in if you drop the name and say you're my Cincy coordinator!
Let me know how it goes!

I wish I could get my photo taken with them Brian. I play on a smaller separate stage. I get paid REALLY well for an hour and a half set, and get free passes to the show, but I don't get to go backstage.{Which SUCKS!} I've got PLENTY of pics on my FB page of me PLAYING the shows though!

Moving up the music ladder, Bob. Good on you, my friend, as my buddies in the UK would say. It's a grind but I suspect it will pay off handsomely for you. Sure makes me glad I don't perform, though. Entirely too much work for so little reward.
Best of luck. Keep us posted when you can.
Regards,
Dave
