Hi Folks,
Since I post all over the site and on FB and elsewhere, I have neglected my blog something fierce. I hope to be more frequent here as I once was, if you'll take a peak now and then.
I would be happy to take on topics, answer questions, etc. all you have to do is ask or send me suggestions.
The past year for me has been a sad one. In the months starting with September 2012 through December 2013 I have lost 11 friends to cancer, had 3 more be diagnosed and in the process of fighting it (one is in remission and I am hoping the same for the other two). I also lost my Grandmother to start it off and two of those lost were among my most important mentors personally and within JPF. The array of people lost dug deep into me as the year progressed. Funerals, Fund Raisers, Memorials and the stress over having to miss many of them weighed heavy. Death is part of life, but I don't think I had lost 11 friends and a relative in total in my entire life up until now combined before that date. I hope for a reprieve in 2014. So no dying out there okay?
I have some ideas I hope to finally act on in 2014. For those who have asked (and THANK YOU to all of you who HAVE kept up with me and my own health) my health is at its most stable in years. I hope that doesn't jinx me, but I am finally feeling more like the old me, just a little slower and less intense version.
Biggest thanks to my wife Linda who has kept me alive literally and figuratively. We've been on some wonderful adventures and I hope to continue them in 2014. I will be saying goodbye to my 40's next year, so I better enjoy what is left before I qualify for AARP eh?
In the immortal words of our good friend Stan Good, Big Guy Hugs all around!

Brian, It's good to hear your health has improved and I'm sorry for all your losses. It sounds like you're ready to take on 2014 with renewed energy and maybe even fury. So as 2013 disappears in the rear view mirror, best wish for the New Year in everything. And keep the music playing All Over the World!!

Glad you are doing better Brian, at least physically. It is sad to lose people, but that is one of the downsides of getting older and having a lot of friends and it beats the alternative. When my mother died at 92, there were none of her friends left to tell. You are still young, AARP or not!
I wish you and all of my friends and acquaintances on JPF a prosperous 2014. I am making a few changes for the better and I hope you all do too.

Thanks guys. I really hope we can finally get a new main website up and also upgrade the message boards as they are way out of date and I am fighting a losing battle with the spam engines attacking out registration process sending us 200-500 bogus new attempted sign ups each day which I must whittle through to find the 10 real ones. I've only been waiting for the company to finally upgrade the software as it was sold to a guy who dropped the ball completely and there's no one to even ask for help there. But I have no idea of a better software than what we currently have and with all the history here and current members/records erc. I am stuck for as long as I can keep the bots at bay.
