Hi folks, Wrote this little ditty over the weekend. Had the idea for a few days and it all came together nicely. I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts and/or critique on "A Love Grown Cold." A Love Grown Cold (ReverbNation) A Love Grown Cold (@ 320k 8Mb Personal Server & A lot better quality) A Love Grown Cold (Chapman Jones) I could have told you anything You used to hang on my every word Now it seems like all I say Goes unheard I'd like to blame it on the mumblin' Of a worn out drunk stumblin' Down the road But I guess I'll blame it on A love grown cold We used to make love on the back porch Every time it rained Now you won't even hold my hand It all went down the drain I'd like to blame it on the rumblin' Of a sky gone dry and wonderin' Where to go But I guess I'll blame it on A love grown cold [BREAK] I'd like to blame it on the tumblin' Of a played out heart that's crumblin' Into fool's gold But I guess I'll blame it on A love grown cold I guess I'll blame it on A love grown cold ** Thanks, Chap

Man I love this. I could almost hear Neil Young doing this tune. Just a really relaxing vibe. Liked the vocals, the playing (especially the harp and banjo). Definately a keeper. Congrats. Great Production.

Hey, Chapman. Nice singer/songwriter tune. Not sure if I'd like it better without the pauses after lines 2 and 4 in the verses, I'd have to hear it that way. But great listen, regardless.

Thank you Mackie & thank you Dave. Appreciate that a lot. Bill, I understand. Your point crossed my mind. I have two shows tonight. I'll play it both ways to see what the response is. Thank you! Chap

Good song. Good musicianship. Can't be bad. Love the harp and banjo.

Chap,
Wow man, this song just grabbed me so quick with that intro, like Dave said that Neil Young feel--you could throw in a little Dylan as well. I've always liked a "Country/Rock" sound, and you've delivered well. Great production and write.
I have one sug for me IMO, I might look at the line "It all went down the drain." That might be a bit too final or cliché. I was thinking that you could say something like, or to the effect: "I'm guessing they'll be no refrain." That might be more clever and sad, yet less dismal. Just a quick impression, not a real nit at all.
I loved this song "bigtime!"

I like the sound of this very much. I agree with Bill about the pause though. Alternative rhyme here if you need it:
I'd like to blame it on the tumblin' Of a played out heart that's fumblin' with a heavy load. Vic

hey Bill, Well, I've played the tune to three audiences. No thoughts either way. I'm guessing everyone seems to like the song/melody as I've had all positive responses in applause and chatter. it doesn't seem to matter about the pause you mention. One original reason for the pause was to add in a pedal steel, which I have and hadn't gotten to yet. Or add in a little Rickenbacker slide work. Anyway, I'm pleased with the tune. And of course, as we all know, we need to get used to playing a song and learning it's nuances. Even if it is our own song. Once we do, we can make natural vocal or instrumental changes and still feel comfortable with it. Thanks again for your insight. Chap

Nice song and arrangement. It is a pleasure to listen to. Another vote to remove the pauses after lines two and four, at least in the recorded song. Has that early country-rock sound to me, like early eagles or nitty-gritty dirt band type stuff.
