This is the first time I have ever recorded my own guitar track and then recorded a vocal to it! Thanks to Rick Willingham for adding tracks to this and to Danny for mixing. I am so excited to have written, chorded, played guitar and sing my very own track.........YEAH!! To those of you who have been listening to me, you know this was a step forward for me...... THE DANCE on SoundClick The Dance by Tammy © 2013 Will I be graceful and act refined with his arm round my back and hand resting in mine My nerves touch my smile, but his eyes reassure as music starts moving our feet cross the floor each step is hypnotic we are swaying in tune in our own world, together, alone in the room (chorus) How can this be, it's so hard to believe out of all of that beauty, his eyes would choose me and I want to hold on for as long as I can I want to stay caught up with him in the dance Holding me near, your breath warm on my ear Your cheek rests on my hair while my mind holds the fear that when the swirling and twirling enchantment ends will you still hold me closely and touch me my friend For I came to this place never dreaming we'd dance it made my heart race and sets a course for romance (chorus) How can this be, it's so hard to believe out of all of that beauty, his eyes would choose me and I want to hold on for as long as I can I want to stay caught up with him in the dance

Very pretty tune, Tammy. You've come a long way fast. I like the change up in the chorus. Nice chordal choices.

Congrats Tammy on your first guitar track that you are singing to your own guitar track--I think I worded that right? "Who's on first?'
Very lovey, nice cooperative production! I couldn't think of who your voice reminded of, but I think now I know--Emmy Lou Harris....have you been told that? (I'm sure she get's told she sounds like you all the time too).
steady-eddie.

Nelson,
Thanks for the honorable mention. I didn't do much mixing. I only lined them up and stitched them together.

Stevie,
So happy you like it and keep giving me a listen, always appreciated!! I had a guitar teacher listen to this song and make one chord change to it and that probably made all of the difference in the world.

Hi TamsNumber4, Rick did a fine job enhancing the song. You've reached another rung on the ladder. I think that the reason for your progress is the love of the music and the feeling of accomplishment, not to mention that it's fun. Repetitive guitar practice may sometimes seem boring, and sometimes you may feel like you've hit a plateau, but it really works. At least it does for me and always has. You can surprise yourself after playing a song hundreds of times at just how your fingers can instinctively pick up on the nuances to compliment your vocal. Are you ready to start playing bass yet?

A very emotional song, well performed , evocative lyrics, we've all been there but not everyone could express these feelings so well.

Eddie,
Thank you for being so kind about my first guitar track.
No, I don't hear the Emmy Lou comparison, but I am sure she is getting pretty tired of hearing about it..LOL!! I am thinking it is the style of the song that took your mind there...maybe...

I remember when we discussed this song a while back and it has grown to a real beautiful tune, love your guitar work, which is becoming masterful in leaps and bounds. And the dance says it all, the descriptions of your feelings as you sway in his arms are lovely for sure. ~~M

M.,
I am SO HAPPY you remember discussing this with me and it was still in the poem form at the time. I love sharing my writing with someone as talented as yourself and I am happy that my guitar playing is becoming more tolerable as well!! Write on my friend, we need more of those sweetest melodies!
