So far commitments have been received from Scott Gunter of Almo Irving Music, Chris Oglesby of BMG Publishing, Rusty Gaston of Song Garden Music, Jerry Smith of Smith Haven Music and Bobby Cottle of Welk Music. (As soon as the final publisher has confirmed the name will be posted at www.barbaracloyd.com.) They are all highly successful, established music industry veterans who care about helping writers learn and grow, but they will also be attending because they are always eager to discover great new writers. The fee for the workshop is $120. This fee will include a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday plus admission to the show at The Bluebird. Participants must provide their own lodging. Shoney's Inn is offering a discount rate of $55/night single or double and those who request it can be paired with a roommate to save expenses. Some financial assistance is available. To apply, send tapes or CD's of three songs with lyric sheets and a non-refundable $10 application fee to Barbara Cloyd's Songwriting Workshop, PO Box 121497, Nashville, TN 37212. "If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
