Roy just finished adding a new last verse to this song, please let us know what you think of it, to me it really finishes it off, with Doug's sugg....thanks glyn and roy...
Junkyard Paradise
Was driving in this country town And the day was ending fast Glimpsed a house just off the road Almost drove on past. It had big yards at front and side Junk piled high on the ground Stopped my car to get a look And have a root around
I’m a junkyard junkie Junk will catch my eyes My idea of heaven Is a Junkyard Paradise.
Well in that yard I saw a man Was rummaging junk himself Old tires, a glass fish tank, And a really nice oak shelf. Commodes of every color Washers, dryers and a fridge An old rotting motor home Parked up on a ridge.
I’m a junkyard junkie Junk will catch my eyes My idea of heaven Is a Junkyard Paradise.
Well this guy he spotted me Said you had better vanish fast I got two mean grizzly hounds And they may not let you pass But I only want to buy your junk, Is what I said to him, I’m a junkyard junkie And just love a rummagin’
Bridge Said his father kept a house always squeaky clean Wouldn't let him have no junk to the point of being mean No treasure chest or broken bike that needed some repair When something broke was thrown away and never kept for spare
I stayed awhile to talk to him And found that he was fun Two years later we got hitched And we had a gorgeous son Now he's grown to six years old And his room is fit for a king Has a poster on his wall Promoting junk recyling....
Tag: Now it seems that junks the thing Makes others knock at our door Want to buy the stuff we've kept Cause it can't be bought no more
We are junkyard junkies Junk will catch our eyes Our idea of heaven Is a Junkyard Paradise.
Our idea of heaven Is a Junkyard Paradise.

Glyn--
Interesting take on JUNK--JUNKIN'--and JUNKERS!
Lot of little townships with no zoning have this problem--I like junk too. When I was a kid I collected anything of value--even cardboard.
With a little trimming and focusing could be a hit.
Write on GIRL.

Heya Glynda,
I hope you are doing well. I enjoyed the write. I know what you mean. What's the old saying, "One man's junk is another's trasure"? I like to go to garage sales. Big fan of those! Great song with a very unique theme. I enjoyed it a lot!
Best wishes,
Wes

Glyn and Roy...
A fun one with a nice touch of humor. The motor home line was amusing. My Dad still has one which caught on fire...top burnt out and melted aluminum frozen on the side. Says he wants to salvage the undercarriage and make it into a hay trailer...lol.

Hi glynda and Roy,
I enjoyed this too! I think you guys incorporate a unique story with just the right amount of humor. The only thing I can think to offer is, I wonder if the title needs the "Country" clarification or not? Hmmmmm....just a thought. I think this is well-written and fun!
Kristi

I liked the story but not to sure about the ending. (The way the story was developing, or the way I saw it, the "singer" and the owner were going to hook up.)
Ending it with the junkyard owner doing what he does because of the neighbors seems like a weak ending. IMO of course.

Like the newer verse and the twist about meeting BUT and now you're going to roll your eyes and say, "AH. Come on Doug."
We understand that the "singer" is a junkyard junkie (love that hook by the by)and we might want to build on that but the compulsion of the junkyard owner isn't clarified??
Sometime the story behind the song is more interesting then the song.
The 5 W's would work here.
Who is the character?: the junkyard owner. What does he do? collects junk. When? all the time. Where? all around. Why dose he love junk? and besides the "singers'" love for junk what else attracts them to each other.
I really like the changes and honestly the lyric works as well I just "see" other things occuring.
Have fun.
Doug
