What do folks here use (script/software-wise) if they have a photo gallery on their website? I was just reading about the importance of having hi-rez pics of yourself on your site in case media is doing a piece on you and needs a photo or two. But when I started into the project, I realized there had to be a better (MUCH better) way to do this than just embedding images onto an HTML page.
I just tried Coppermine, which is available through my ISP, but it seems WAAAYYY more than I need.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
And Happy Christmas Eve!

Hi Ken:
Hope your Christmas was a great one. My former partner and I gave up our website many moons ago and never got around to putting up photos. It was all about our music and we thought we'd sell songs. Wrong! Too much competition from existing purveyors of music... and we had no idea of how to "drive" clients to our website. One of life's little lessons... LOL!
I have no advice on adding photos but this is a real interesting topic to me. I hope others with real experience will "chime-in" and share ideas with you... and me by default... LOL! I had never heard of Coppermine but will take a peek at it. One thing I can suggest... don't spend time trying to learn Photoshop. The learning curve is super-steep and the cost is astronomical. There are less powerful versions available now and those folks talented enough to use them seem very content.
Thanks for bringing this up. I'll be "lurking" in the background attempting to soak up some knowledge.
Happy New Year!

Thanks, Donna:
I'll check out "buzzle" and have already peeked at picasa. Happy New Year to you... and please keep your finger in the dike over there in the land of windmills... LOL!

I took a moment to use your link and listened to "Adelaide." This is a beautiful song and your performance is stellar. Nice to know we have such talented folks here at JPF. B-T-W... your website is well done.

Hello again, guys and gals:
My daughter introduced me to a free photo editing package called "Picnik" and for basic photo editing functions, it is really nice. They offer a premium package but I've been fairly satisfied with the free version. This is a Seattle based organization and they appear to be genuine people.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I think it got a little off my original question though. Assume I already have a bunch of pictures (not videos...that's a different issue I'll ask about elsewhere;)) and simply want to put them onto a "photos of me" page on my site. I don't want to simply plaster jpgs into a table in a regular old html page....kinda klunky. But the huge dedicated photo gallery scripts seem to be a bit "too much car" for me. Just wondering if other folks here do anything like this.
BTW, I have learned SOME functionality in Photoshop Elements and PaintShop Pro (which I like better). But yeah, the big Photoshop program is WWAAYY too expensive. For video, I use Vegas Pro, which allows me to do stuff I haven't even imagined yet;). But one thing it does really well is green-screen stuff. I did a video (my first effort) of myself singing 3-part harmony with myself...live (sorta). I performed the song 3 times here in the studio/bedroom, and combined them all together to make 3 of me. I just wish I could do that in real life!:).
Cheers.
Ken

For photo galleries, I've seen some people just put all their pictures on Flickr and link to them from their site. Or you can put a small piece of code on your site to put a slideshow from Flickr of your pics on your site. There is a tutorial here - http://paulstamatiou.com/how-to-quickie-embedded-flickr-slideshows if you are interested in trying.
