Lately I've become more intrigued by minimalist song structures and sparse productions. Here's my attempt at a "two verse /chorus and I'm out of here" format

I wrote a lyric, asked floyd what he thought about it. I then went along for the ride as he elevated the write up the "image ladder" and handed us a bonus wonderful melody. And for all that Janice and I are very grateful.

I usually don't list the production stuff but for those so inclined here are the details.

Janice: vocal via Rodes NT1 mic, Scarlet USB interface, Nectar 2 and recorded to Logic Pro X (she makes it so easy)
Bass: BiaB RealTrack processed with Alloy 2
Drums: BiaB RealDrums processed with Alloy 2 and EMT 140 Reverb sim
Guitar: BiaB RealTrack processed with Alloy 2 and EMT 140 Reverb sim
Fiddle: BiaB RealTrack processed with Alloy 2 and EMT 140 Reverb sim
Piano: BiaB Midi SuperTrack rendered as midi, Logic's Steinway Grand sound added and processed with Alloy 2 and TrueVerb
Mixing/Mastering: Logic Pro X and Ozone 6
Video: Video Editor 3, Pixelmator, FX Photo Studio, PaintPad and Picmonkey.
All photos are PD except for the chorus photo that Bud shot.

So glad you decided to explore minimalist structures... and compare notes with FJ. As always, Jan's vocal carries this thing right over the Empire State Building for me. I noticed Al David had commented as I listened and watched. Wonder how he's doing?

I really enjoyed listening to (and "watching") this heartbreaking song. I thought the hook was terrific and you played it out very nicely in the chorus, which was quite strong in and of itself. Great imagery!!

Janice, Bud, Floyd,
Janice makes this feel so effortless. Bud the structure does not sound simple. But it does have a real nice pace and melodic arc. The chorus is just killer. It's one of those where most of us think that is exactly how I feel (I don't drink a lot of Gin but still). If I had to bring up a nit it would be the verses. Where the chorus was such a relatable emotion the verses seemed a bit complex.
I still really enjoyed this as there is a lot of talent evident in this collab.
